Fortunately for us, a China-USA war is not probable. As others eluded to, it would indeed escalate to worldwide conflict. USA is smart enough not to engage China directly, and China's only chance of striking would be on our units deployed abroad. China does not possess the ability to transfer large amounts of troops to American soil at this point. They lack the naval capacity to stage an invasion force. We can only hope that cooler heads prevail, which I believe they will. China is emerging as a competing "super power." With this emergence comes all manner or political and military concern. Both realize that they require each other to stay afloat economically. China is more willing now to assert its anger at U.S. American actions that interfere with their own agenda. This should not be taken to imply that China is prepared and willing to engage the U.S.A. in open military conflict. What we are seeing now is reminiscent of the cold war beginnings. Two superpowers trying to out-flex each other, and to secure resources, geography and people that will favor their continued interests, both domestically and abroad.

China's military is a red herring.

While strong, any upcoming war between China / USA will not be military in nature.

It will be Economic in nature. China will collapse the US dollar and call in debt all at the same time.

USA would collapse within a week.

USA : Our UFOs are bigger faster and better than yours..You better watch yourself buster brown.

CHINA: Oh yeahhhhh? We will prove you wrong. If you can fly them over here we can fly them in your back yard as well.

USA: Oh yeahhhh Buster?

CHINA: Yeahhhhh mister. Try us.

CHINA: On that note...quit making things up about us being angry for Liu Xiabo receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. We couldn't care less. Just stop flying stuff in our airspace and camping your military ships offshore.

USA: You are skating on thin ice. Dont get cocky about your economic position

Notice how the USA had the first word and the last word and China simply exercised some Lao Tzu principles thus not needing to have the last word.

A economic collapse would surley lead to all out war, its not like the US lacks in any domestic resources. A US economic colapse would only serve to fuel the need for war. Before someone says petroleum, remember that the US has very rich oil reserves.

Perhaps the USA will collapse the way the Roman empire did? after all, the founding fathers decided to model the USA on Rome, Rome had internal strife, was bankrupt, its borders overun, the Senators ignored all that was going on, the similarity to the history of Rome is quite striking to me.

I don't think so especially since they are selling off US debt.

Google Search

I don't think they would do it. Even if they invaded the US there would always be that old quote.

"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." --Isoroku Yamamoto

Everyone here knows this is no understatement.

Not to mention they do not possess the infrastructure to accomplish a mainland invasion of the United States.

I have never seen that quote before, but you are correct, there is truth behind it. Your average gun-owner in the U.S. is more capable than your average militant in say, Afghanistan (and that's saying something). Invade the mainland and you will be facing men and women with high-powered weaponry every step of the way. If you combine the preexisting amount of firearms and able gunmen in the United States with the ability of our Army's Special Forces to train and coordinate those forces, well, any invasion force that would be capable of breaching our initial defenses would soon find themselves facing a nation of guerilla warfare experts. That is not an overstatement.

I agree. An invasion on the US (if they were capable) would be suicide. Take a trained military and a population of deer hunters (basically stealthy snipers) along with all the gun toting gang bangers and organized militants (ergo organized crime syndicates that don't want to loose the fertile business here as well as militia groups) and you have yourself an unstoppable force. I can almost guarantee that even the most oppositional standpoints would unite against a common invader.

This is why I laugh when I hear the phrases "national security" and "gun control" in the same sentence.

Gun ownership (at least in the states) = National Security.

(Tin Foil Hat)

I am a bit weary though as China has made a few deals with Mexico which would be a perfect vantage point to begin their campaign. Mexico I fear would allow it as long as China threw some land in for them. I wouldn't be surprised to see tankers and fishing vessels retrofitted as troop / artillery transports with an escort comprised of the few war ships they do have. (hat off) I know it's quite unlikely but definitely a scenario to keep in mind.

I love how two countries on opposite sides of the planet can't mind their own business.

The power hungry will be the downfall of humanity.. guaranteed.

hahaha (tinfoil hat)

Sure, it's possible. The advantage of Mexico being that close is our ability to have eyes on the whole country. Tens of thousands of Chinese soldiers would make a pretty huge splash in the intelligence community. I'm not sure they would be much safer with all that firepower between the opposing cartels down there. With our sister nation Canada providing security to the North, we have more than enough hardware and military might left domestically to squash any and everything along the Mexican, United States border. Would definitely be a new age Cuban missile crisis though. However unlikely, who knows what the future holds.

With China's current troop transporting ability, it would be a literal shooting range. They could send every soldier, sailor and airman they have at us, and with the rate of transport we would smack em around. Then Mexico would end up in a very sticky situation; New New Mexico anybody?

As insane as politicians may seem at times, it is my belief that we are fortunate enough to have leadership on both sides of the Great Wall that are competent enough to avoid this situation. 20-30 years down the road when water, oil and other precious resources reach critical supply, then we might not even need the tin foil hats to discuss a China/U.S. conflict; domestically or abroad.

you wanna know why? because doesnt matter weather they are your enemy or not, all humans crave for violence, because they are too stupid to aim for anything else asides for someones head.

Whats the point of threatening countrys full of mostly innocent people, is it towards the nation itself? or just a few individuals you personally dont like?

Doing the same thing over and over again and execpting differnt results is a good clear sign of insanity (lets keep killing for peace, that will fix everything)

I saw this coming, China saves americas economym just so they can threaten war later, this honestly makes no sence to me, and if it does to you, well I honestly have no words for you if you crave death and violence all your life, then thats what you will get

You want to know what this will turn into "my land is better then your land. my god is better then your god"

In most cases wars are completely avoidable, just some people dont want to avoid it, they would rather see the world burn, also nasa (i know alot of people who hate nasa, mostly a reilgious thing)

China is you are reading this, if you take over the world please for the love of god, keep nasa going, doesnt matter who is in the lead, just as long they are reaching for something rather then sitting on this ass saying "haha im in the lead, i control the world hah haha"

Sadly this sums up pretty much the whole of world conflict and current affairs right now.Iran, N Korea, Iraq to name a few. It's not the general populations who want to go to war it's a few individuals who have sneaked and corrupted their way to the top and now feel they can drag everyone down with them.sorry for the mini rant just struck a chord and I felt I had to speak fo the first time here on ats.

As for the economic side their are a few venues that could be used to stop most of the economic fallout to where at most it is a roadbump. After all. India and Taiwan would be more then glad to take most of chinas export business.
For the duration of any hostilities, All the US really has to do is freeze all of chinas us held assets.

The biggest threat I feel in china would be the Triads. (this goes on to the next several posters thought on the mexican aspect) Good eye the Chinese are notorious for the cats paw strategy. Mao used it a lot. Ask taiwan...

The triads would be the link to the mexican drugs lords.

@infinite

1)Games and theory

2) I prefer armchair ADMIRAL. I served in the Navy and we had our own army, we call them MARINES...lol

I was not in the marines so it would be armchair ADMIRAL... ty

ok people stop trying to make the us and china fight each other geez.........

once upon a time us and china were actually friendier during ww2 some a small scale we did unite agianst the common foe japan at the time...

you know while numbers do matter what matters the most is the support and logistics..........if an army cant get bullets they cant fight if they cant get food they cant fight...........so please consider all angles before we start doing this..................

the biggest component to all this is china needs us and this country needs china

the government borrows from them the american citizens buys their junk....................a war would destroy both economies...............so no wont happened when there are trillions at stake they wouldnt risk it and nor would we....

now if the us cuts china off completely and stiff china on the bill then you can bet a war...............but like i said as long as they can get rich over the current situation nothing will happen

As for their subs..... Ever wonder what would happen if the us unleashed the full might of the navy....

All of US naval forces engaging China? Well, this would place all of the American naval forces in a strategic theater around China. By your assumption, this would include all 17 carrier task forces that are spread out exerting the empire's global control. What do YOU think will happen with such a poor strategy?

Simply put, China will focus on the American empire's main weakness: outstretched and overexposed logistics. Main battles with be for control of strategic islands around China, like Guam base and obviously Taiwan. American fuel sources anywhere in Asia will be fair game and face it, any enemy of the US will be China's friend. China will fund resistance in the middle east and suddenly Iraq and Afghanistan will intensify ten fold. The only place safe for Americans will be America, and that's hoping that civil war won't break out because of extreme energy cuts and lack of necessities and social services.

And will God be blessing America if anyone ever managed to destroy command structures like the White House/Pentagon/NORAD HQ?

As I always say in threads suggesting a possible US-China war, it won't happen, at least any time soon. You will see the US economy collapse before you likely see any Chinese military aggression against the US and vice versa. You see, the Chinese economy is completely dependent on the west, Don't believe me? Just pick up any cheap little plastic thing in your home or office... it's likely made in China. The Chinese economy is growing by leaps and bounds because of the consumer based economy of the US. Our debt and wild spending is in part China's growth and wealth.

If we are war with China, we are buying their crap and their economy isn't rocketing into space. As long as they are not at war with us and we still have an economy, we will be buying their cheap plastic crap and this leads me to the reason that we won't attack China.

Because China's economy is booming on our own stupidity, they are pumping boatloads of money into our economy, in the form of loans and investments. As I said above, it is their best interests to keep the American economy running and to keep the American citizen a consumer, therefore they prop our economy up by pumping money into it. If we were to go to war with China or if we acted aggressively, they could simply pull their money out, which would have devistating consequences to our economic stability. This is why we wouldn;t attack China any time soon.

With that being said, once China reaches the apex of our relationship, they are going to need to get rid of us before they can surpass us. However, they won't do that until they suck us as dry as they can, with their cheap plastic crap. When they do reach the apex, they are going to need to boot our empire, for access to our resources, such as oil and metals.

However, it is my firm belief that the US economy is signing its own death warrant and as soon as the deed is done and collapse our own economy, China will probably make its move and rush our empiracle strong holds. Lets just hope it isn't violent and they don't have their eyes set on our continent. China can not surpass us without first moving us out of the way or at the very least, cancel our empire. They won't do that however, unless and until we can't buy their plastic crap.

I'll see you at Wal*Mart!

You won't see me at Wallyworld!

People, you've got it all wrong because you're buying into the sideshow once again. This fake antagonism is a distraction to keep your eye off the real action.
What's to say we don't have a secret agreement with China?
Chinese manpower and industry coupled with America's technology and military might would be an unbeatable combination.
If you believe in a NWO then where does China fit in?
Not all is as it seems.

Just how would China call in the debt?

China's supposed economic power is increased every time someone walks into WalMart. Wanna send China back to the stone-age? Stop buying the crap they send our way.
