Recent research showing that a section of the fault is long overdue for a major earthquake has some scientists saying the southern portion of the fault is capable of a magnitude 8.1 earthquake that could run 340 miles from Monterey County to the Salton Sea.
That's significantly stronger and longer than the southern San Andreas' last major rupture,in 1857.

The article goes on to say that,A magnitude 8.1 wall-to-wall quake would release twice the energy of the 1857 temblor. This is definitely not good for those who live in this area,I would think of re-locating somewhere else,if it were possible..)

lol im not going to relocate because of an earthquake. you cant run from everything. I say bring it on. it will be a welcome sign to the construction companys when it comes to rebuilding.

I know I will, I wouldn't want someone with your attitude sending me anything!
So you are suggesting we all move away because an earthquake might happen. Don't forget they have been telling us it might happen since the last "big one".
I don't tuck tail and run off of rumors and hearsay. Since all of their other predictions have failed, obviously, why should this be any different?

Easy there cowboy.

If you read the post I quoted you would quickly note that that individual said to "bring it on". That's pretty arrogant I would say in light of any disaster.

I merely responded in kind that since he/she was confident enough to get through a potential disaster they obviously wouldn't need any help. We both know that the reality would be much much different.

Never said anyone should move.

You know, I have been waiting for "the big one" for the same amount of time as "the rapture".

I highly doubt he was talking of the hurt people, as you were. In fact he said it would be welcomed due to the increased revenue from and to construction companies.
Yours, on the other hand, was hoping that his injuries would not be treated. Do you see the difference?

In the end, and I share that posters feelings. When you live here, and they cram "the big one" down your throat every day, it is easy to become desensitized to it. I can not go through a day of my life without one reference to that mythical earthquake. (Until it happens, it is a myth.)

No. All I see is assumption

Sure I can understand you've heard that same song and dance over and over but at some point it will happen...

Besides if people didn't post these types of threads ATS would be boring.

Would it be at all possible for you to wear some sort of recognizable clothing (yellow hat, blue pants, red nose, etc.) so that if an event of this magnitude unfolds we can be certain of who not to send aid or help to ?
