Is the United States of America a leading terrorist state? [Video]

Noam Chomsky Interview

Let me start of by saying, I think America is a fine country and its general population are good people. I don't want anyone to feel I'm attacking unjustly by posting this video, although there have been more harsh things said on this board, and this video is by someone who knows what he is talking about, Noam Chomsky.

Now why do people not know more about that, what he is discusses? I'm not saying everyone should know the amount that he knows, that's would be nigh impossible for any country lol, I'm just talking about basic facts here. The media is not telling you, yes that's pretty obvious to anyone with open eyes. But, America is a relatively free country, there is lots of information out there that support this viewpoint. I feel and I maybe wrong that people don't know because its easier to point your finger and say well our country is not too bad, but those peoples (whoever is the target at the current time) are horrible or they are the enemy of freedom. As he says, there is progress albeit its slow progress, (and I feel some, a minority that don't want progress), but I do have a tiny bit of hope left that it (progress) will continue, but it need to happen more faster imo.

If you don't watch any of it, then at least read this comment, this is the heart in which it was posted:

The immediate problem is to free ourselves from the shackles, imposed very consciously by the kind of people your talking about, who don't want the facts to be known and for very good reasons, because if people know the facts there not going to tolerate them. So therefore you have to prevent them from knowing, you have to indoctrinate them, you have to tell them stories about how were really good guys and if we use violence it must be for the general good, because we represent the course of history. Yeah, that's the job of propagandists, for power and violence, and its the task of populations to free themselves from those kinds of controls and domination.

This is obviously a heated debate, with people on both sides of the fence, intellectuals and the general public. As far as my opinion goes, in all honesty I do not have the resources or knowledge to make a clear stand on it either way, I'd like to know what you guys think though.

Whatever the case, I hope you enjoy watching the video, it is pretty old, but I thought it may spark some interesting discussion.

Peace Out.

Definition of TERRORISM
: The systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion

Merriam-Webster's Definition of Terrorism

Definition of TERROR
1: a state of intense fear

2a : one that inspires fear
b : a frightening aspect
c : a cause of anxiety : worry
d : an appalling person or thing; especially

3: reign of terror

4: violent or destructive acts (as bombing) committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands.

Merriam-Webster's Definition of Terror

Does America use FEAR in order to coerce, influence, and intimidate?

Does America's LAWS and International Policies reflect the definitions of TERRORISM and TERROR?

What do you think, personally?

edit on 11-10-2010 by Esoteric Teacher because: Are you afraid? Do you have anxiety? Then you have been terrorized, a subject of terrorism, and a product of terror and it's influences and coercion

Surprise -- The Very Dark Side of U.S. History

By Peter Dale Scott and Robert Parry, Consortium News

Editor's Note: Many Americans view their country and its soldiers as the "good guys" spreading "democracy" and "liberty" around the world. When the United States inflicts unnecessary death and destruction, it's viewed as a mistake or an aberration.

In the following article Peter Dale Scott and Robert Parry examine the long history of these acts of brutality, a record that suggests they are neither a "mistake" nor an "aberration" but rather conscious counterinsurgency doctrine on the "dark side."
