I don't think the smudge is a single UFO, but perhaps a field of energy where some could be traveling in? At first I did think it was just a camera artifact but the LMSAL image makes me wonder.

Hey Kyle what is LMSAL?

Where can we see that data?

It is in this video, I'm not sure if it updates regularly so let me know if you don't see it.

www.lmsal.com...

Don't quote me but I believe it detects magnetic activity...

Here is a little more about LMSAL:

SOHO Catches A UFO ?

No, SOHO catches a comet.

It appear to be some kind of physical object but is in reality a image artifact created due to cosmic rays messing with the sensors of Lasco C2.

Here's two other examples:

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/d433f038d9e5.gif[/atsimg]

More info:

Cosmic rays: High energy particles from the solar wind, and from the galaxy as a whole, whip around the SOHO spacecraft and interact with the detectors. These produce spots and streaks on the detector ranging from a single pixel, to large streaks that span a large fraction of the image. These are most evident during a solar storm, as can be seen on this Hot Shot page, but are always present at some level. I know that some people have claimed that they've seen spacecraft-looking things that seem to be moving around, but which are obviously cosmic rays when examined by an experienced observer. People see a cosmic ray at one location in one image, and then another random cosmic ray hit nearby in the next image, and claim they're both the same thing moving between frames.

Sometimes you'll see a cosmic ray seem to persist in the web images for two or more frames. This is because we lose a certain percentage of the data coming down from the spacecraft. In LASCO such losses appear as square blocks in the image. The software which puts the images up on the web will fill in these blocks from the last good image, and if there's a cosmic ray in that block from the previous image, it will appear in this image as well. The way to check for this is to look at the raw data files, which are also available on the web through the SOHO catalog interface.

The "trail" is different then the ones you posted though, the OP's picture looks like it is curving away from the Sun. Also how do you explain the same anomaly on LMSAL? I'm not saying this a UFO at all, it would be nice, but I'm guessing it is some type of energy field.

So that is the official debunk position to persuade the masses.

That should satisfy most people.

And the original SOHO photo for comparison:

Do comets also leave a black outline in LMSAL photos? That's pretty cool image.

Some thoughts, there was this picture
sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov...
And this one
sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov...
And it was suggested that the blue one was a picture of our Dustpan Mothership at a different angle. I'm not so sure. The time stamps on the two images are only six minutes apart. So that would have had to have been quite the jump. but seeing as this thing shows up quite instantaneously in the LMSAL movie, which can be found here
www.lmsal.com...
Perhaps there is more to be said about it being just a image artifact.

But then, for those who feel there's more to it then simple equipment ghosts, might I point your attention to the slight rise on the X-ray chart on the LMSAL movie at the about 9:15 mark? Maybe a release of some energies involved in this ship showing up as suddenly as it did?

I'm no expert, but there you have it, two different things for you to ponder.

You can also find it on the SOHO website.

Sorry but the pic you linked to is not the same as the OP's. Just look at the background and you can see it is not the same image. Am I missing something here?

I love the comment is looks like a giant spatula!

But seriously, unless the site was hacked and this modified pic was added, what the @#$%$ is it?

Well it's quite obvious. It's a integral part of the Universal Janitorial fleet. The Dustpan Mothership. Without it, they'd just be moving the junk around, but with it, they can safely move it to the trash receptacles. Course, now that it's in our star system, the rest of the fleet can't be far behind.

PREPARE FOR THE CLEANSING!

I remember reading and seeing an interview from the pilot, he said it was enormous.
And I couldn't agree with you more, that is the best comparison. In the perspective of it actually being a UFO, that is..

Here's the picture from the link

Correct me if im wrong or sound like an idiot or anything, but on the 12th isn't there supposed to be a mass appearance of UFOs? maybe this is the mother ship holding them? who knows just a thought
