What is it that your signature says?

Methinks you should read it again.

I am sorry Chaos, I am going to take my leave of the information right now. This poster is making the thread a pain to read. Plus, I want some dinner.

I will be back with some points later. Nothing nasty or confrontational, since this is an awesome thread

PS: Awesome!

So they have reptilian heads. So what? That means they are extraterrestrial? You can also find sculptures with cat heads, wolf heads, Ibis heads. Forget about Bast, Anubis, and Thoth?
I simply put them in there because I thought the reptilian believers would enjoy it. They are slightly odd though.

The cycle of precession is 25,772 years, not 26,000.

Oh my goodness Phage! Is this the best you have to explain how the Mayans developed a calendar that exactly equals our precession?

Tell me, what formula did you use to come up with the exact number of 26,000 years?

Is it possible they were off by a few hundred years Phage?

Please enlighten us with the formula that EXACTLY predicts the precession down to the second phage. The Mayans didn't have super computers. I would think 228 years (plus or minus) is pretty darned good for savages.

I can honestly say that there is no evidence that they represent extraterrestrials. I can honestly say there is no reason they cannot be artistic representations of spiritual concepts and myths. I can honestly say that such things do not have to have a basis in reality. That would seem to be a religious point of view.

The Greeks believed the Sun was a god who rode across the sky in a chariot pulled by winged horses. Is that based on reality?

By what I saw, you are just projecting your personal biases and using modernism to try to explain the past without a solid argument. You see helmets, suits, etc., where you don't know what the originals were. You post erroneous images because you didn't do enough research in the right places which explain what you show as something else (A drawing found in Temple of Abydos, it seems to depict a helicopter and submarine and other air craft. Dated at 3000 years old.) (This tapestry is titled "Summer's Triumph", created in Bruges, 1538, located at the Bayerisches National Museum. Here we see odd saucer/disk type UFO's in the sky above the horizon.) I made a special effort to hang around the roof of my Los Angeles apartment building waiting for these cloud shapes and I was able to snap a few photos. UFO cloud shapes in the present, UFO cloud shapes in antiquity and all through "creation".

I don't think that you have or will prove your point. Curious, yes, definite no.

Please tell me which Maya calendar has a cycle of close to 26,000 years.

Behold...they are already trying to blame shutting the thread down on me. Typical debunker tactics. They want it shut down because they lost the argument.

Nothing more nothing less. I win and they lose. Why shut it down instead of just deleting my postings?

Because they want the WHOLE THING SHUT DOWN.

I am a massive skeptic chief, but I don't want this thread shutdown.

Even though you didn't win at the debate man, some other people have encouraged me to do some research. It doesn't mean you are right. It means I will consider the argument.

I agree with your mindset about researching offline. Absolutely.
One thing I will say is that I am not "young" and I did most of my research into this thematic in libraries reading big old fat books and talking with University professors, writers and philosophers on those subjects and that in at least 3 languages. English German and Spanish.
I would say that the information at that particular time may have lacked certain elements of knowledge and information which has come to light in recent years. However, most of the information as RAW information has not changed. The fundamentals of older books and literature reflects the same thesis as today

That surely can't mean what I think it means? What things have no basis in reality? Aliens or mythical God-like beings? You can't be saying a "belief" in ancient aliens is a religious type thing? If so, please explain to me the reasoning behind this.

The Greeks believed the Sun was a god who rode across the sky in a chariot pulled by winged horses. Is that based on reality?
Well, look at that, a Sun head? A Sun behind head? Almost looks like he is wearing a helmet of some description. And winged horses, surely not real right? Nor would all the angels and divine beings with wings be real right? So, why do they use wings, they are obviously showing that these people can fly right? Wings are a classic depiction of flight. I'm sure you already understand everything I'm saying here. When a person doesn't completely understand what they are seeing their depiction of that event is subject to their personal understanding of the event, and how they can relate to it.

Sure I will...

As soon as the debunkers admit they don't know everything there is to know in the universe. Until then, I win and they lose.

Nothing has changed since. Hehehe...

I just graduated with a four year degree (double major) around two years ago, and all of our research was based upon offline references. Nothing online was allowed into our research. We can use the internet to create a quick check-list, but the majority of the work is done in a college library. Sometimes you have to find personal essays, reflection letters, etc... I will share with everyone what I find. I will also give some offline references, which directly come from professors, researchers, and other people who have studied the artifacts. I think it would be rather interesting. Maybe we will learn something new.

You haven't won anything. Until you do some actual offline research, I consider your side of the story to be a fictional piece of work. You have no proof to support your claims.

I'm saying the myths do not need to have a basis in reality.

Are you saying that the Sun is a UFO and the Greeks just represented it as a chariot because they had nothing else to relate to?

That is a depiction of Helios. Every day he rides his chariot across the sky. Every night he travels through the underworld so that he can start over in the east the next day. I fail to see how that depiction has any connection to any reality. I find it amazing that you can think that it may.
