Hi all,
Two volcanoes are showing currently signs of a soon eruption, Katla and Grimsvotn.
This is a scientific prediction because both are showing inflation (my GPS measuring) due to magma upward movement, increasing earthquake swarms, and
recent increase in tremor amplitude.
These signs usually appear right before an eruption, some days before or some weeks before.
This can point to an eruption of either Katla or Eyjafjallajökull again, or the Grimsvotn volcano.
However let me say this sometimes can mean nothing.
Grimsvotn is the most active volcano, last eruption in 2004 caused some flight disruptions, this is also the volcano of the famous Laki fissure
eruption in 1783 (that was not Katla; Katla was responsible for the even bigger eruption in Edlgja fissure in 934). Both volcanoes can have relatively
moderate eruptions, so there is no need for worry! Two volcanoes erupting at the same time is NOTHING NEW IN ICELAND!
