new UFO sigting in Bali , Indonesia

Hi ATS,

I would like to get your opinion on the following image. I think it is not really that great or unusual of an UFO sighting, however since this image has been taken about a 20 minutes drive from where I live (and we don't get a lot of UFO sightings here), it quite excites me personally. The below chronology I have translated from Indonesian into English from the original source linked below:

Spherical UFO over Serangan Island, Bali, August 26 August 2010

"This morning I was trying to take images from stork birds behind my office. When I looked at the result, there is one photo with another object, besides the birds. In the beginning I thought it is a small bird, but after zooming in it looks more like a plate object, quite solid, and it is not so far positioned from the position i took the image. Also, the shutter speed was quite high: 1/500 seconds, so if it was a bird at normal flight speed, it woudl have been caught in a frozen condition.

After I zoomed in 20X . this mysterious object shows that it has a little bit of a purple stroke on top and green stroke at the bottom. ...."

A little bit info about Serangan Island: Serangan Island is a half-island, land bridged to Bali. It is quite uninhabited, except a ferry is operating here and a small local Village + it is also the location of the trash dump and incinerators for Bali.

You know.....

It could be a bird......the shape is very similar to the many, many "bird UFOs" we have seen on here.

Phage calls them "blurds"!

If I get time in a few minutes, I will see if I can find some comparative photos of "blurds" for you.

Hi nagabonar,

The purple and green fringeing evident on the zoomed image are most likely due to chromatic aberration. Wiki gives a full explanation here.

Its most likely a bird, as MMN says, but there's just not enough detail to say much of anything about it.

thanks for your input... So there is a big possibility this image is a bird , disguised as a "blurd". this is being supported by the fact that the photographer was trying to catch an image with stork nesting place.

Nevertheless I like the idea that there is still a small chance of my area of living being visited by the "real deal"

i look for out for more info. After all millions of Tourists swamp Bali per year, so maybe someone was on the watch with a digital cam.....

Remembering, the first and one of the most famous UFO sighting in Indonesia, shot by a Japanese tourist Ryo Terumoto at an active and "holy" Volcano here on 17 August 1973 (coincidences with Indonesia Liberty day):

The "object" in that older image also bears a passing resemblance to a "blurd".

Hi All!

Thank you Nagabonar to have circulated this photo. Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Bayu Amus and I'm the one who shot this photo. It was a series of bird-catching photos where I spent like 30-40 shots of the same view point, and none of the other shots have this "thing".

At first thought I was also thinking that it's just a bird. Since sometimes there are small birds flying around during the session, though I capture none on the rest of the photos since I make sure that my photos are "clean" of unwanted objects, since I might have use the pics for commercial purposes.

However, what had sparked my curiosity and raised a flag was when the ISO data mentioned that the photo was shot with a 1/500 second shutter speed. As a shutter speed of 1/300 is able to freeze a 100 km/h (around 62.5 mph) moving object at zero distance from the camera, then how fast the "thing" was flying if you're using 1/500 second shutter speed; and it was at a distance and it still captured blurred/moving? Around 120 mph? Do small bird flies that fast at level flight?

Then I also noticed from the image that the object looks quite solid, with no visible moving parts (notice the tidy formed grains on the surrounding area), this is where it begun to raise another flag.

Two flags, not much, but I wasn't really sure it was a bird either

As for the color ghosting, I also posted information on the original page that the coloring perhaps was due to digital noise, as I also noticed similar effect on the trees (brown ghosting). Though on other objects it were just single color not double.

But anyway, thanks for all of your comments and analysis, it does closely resembles birdfo and blurfo.

Dear Nagabonar, on the contrary Bali is no different with other areas of the world in possibility of UFO sighting; you just have to know where to look

Following are links to records of my own sightings; nothing fancy though, only traveling stars or "nocturnal lights" as Hynek classified.

Both are in Indonesian but I think Google Translations would be fancy enough to translate the story in general if you need to read them in English.
