When I was ten years old my Dad got me the Lennon Legend album for Christmas and I was instantly converted. Since then I have been a massive fan, and
everyday I wake up to 'Instant Karma' as my alarm call. His most famous song 'Imagine' made me feel less afraid of losing religion, and stepping away
from the church as I began to do in the years following my discovery of his music. The world without that crutch I had to rely on, didn't seem as
lonely somehow.
But I often wonder what he would be like if still alive today. Would he still be making music? Almost certainly so, probably making amazing
collaborations with new and contemporary artists too. But he would also most likely be commenting on the various issues around the world just as we do
on ATS.
I wonder would he even be a member? I like to think so.
So I stumble across a Daily Mail article this morning which has digitally aged the star by 30 years, in celebration of his 70th Birthday this
Saturday.
His birthday is actually tomorrow but thats besides the point. His message is still alive and kickin and he's influenced my life greatly. I wish so
hard that he and Pac were still alive today I'm sure they would've made a crazy songwriting team.
I think I'll pay strawberry fields a visit tomorrow.
John Lennon was before my time, but him along with Martin Luther King is someone who I admire greatly.
If he was alive today I'd like to think he'd be speaking out about Afghanistan and Iraq. That he'd be making music which means something and that
he'd be trying to reach out to make the world a better place.
John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono will tell people around the world "to learn to love each other in peace" on what would have been the music
legend's 70th birthday.
Fans around the world will be remembering the late Beatle at various locations including his home town of Liverpool and a shrine in Central Park,
New York, his adopted home.
Ono herself will be leading a celebration in Iceland with a series of events, including a performance by the Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band, alongside
their son Sean.
i was 14 yrs old and happened to go thru the basement parking of the everson museum
and there sat john lennons yellow rolls.. i walked around it and ran my hand the length of it.
if he hadnt been murdered by cia bush's lone gunman. he would be on a no fly list -
still on a bush crime family hit list . he would somehow be persecuted, marginalized.
he would hopefully slap yoko silly and dump her at her lady gaga gig.
he would make new anti war songs for another war -
just like the other war.
