"Soft Disclosure" isn't happening... or if it is most people are oblivious to it

while I agree somewhat, I think (hope) that this situation is accelerated because i'm semi convinced by the Mayan calender theories and all that hype. I do get caught up in all this but the Sumerian stuff really has me gripped, that and the pyramids. I fully expect to be sat here in 2013 completely depressed and wondering why i spent the last 5 yrs thinking magical things were about to happen!

I've just become so depressed with our existence on this planet. I'm convinced we're supposed to be doing something else, but we've got stuck in this machine that fuels the greed of a corrupt empire and get carried along.

I'm 37 and find the prospect of living under the regime depressing! If there are other beings passing this planet, they probably nudge their passenger and say "that's where that infestation of those human things is, you don't want to go there, what a bunch of arrogant termites!"

I dont want to be a kill joy to all those who believe some sort of "soft" disclosure is in the process, but sitting in my office today it suddenly occured to me:

Not one single person in my office is aware of any of the topics many of the people on here are discussing... i.e. Meetings to discuss ET life, a random person no-one has ever heard of being chosen as "1st contact", the chinese UFO's shutting down airports etc etc.

I then thought about my close friends, wife and family... do any of them suddenly seem interested or more interested in Alien Life... nope! Would any of them know about the topics I listed above... nope!

You don't seem to understand the idea of "soft disclosure"... there's nothing "sudden" about it.

Ok, so why has there been so much discussion lately about "disclosure"? Are threads and topics being started, because someone is trying to tell us that alien disclosure IS actually very near? To get us thinking about it, perhaps?

Most people are still going about their lives worrying about their own existance to really care about the possibilities of alien life.

Take a look around you... how many of the people you see are more aware of the possibility of alien life then this time last year? How many of them are aware of the recent stories creeping in to the MMM?

To be honest, had I read this thread last week, I would have refrained from posting, as my response would be identical to the OP.

However, having read it a few days, ago, and agreeing then... to having to respond today for disagreeing... seems quite odd, to me.

I'd say that since all the reports from china of UFO's shutting down their airports, I actually have had more friends/family ask me about the 'UFO stuff I'm always interested in'... Especially noting that the stories haven't been ridiculed, but reported on properly.

I'm starting to notice a lot of people waking up, and they are people who I've tried in the past to talk to about these things rationally, and been ridiculed over... Funnily enough, it was one of these people who actually told me about the chinese sightings of late, before I'd read it on ATS.

Don't set yourself up to be disappointed by the Mayan calendar. I have a feeling these beings have been here for a very very long time. There is a popular belief system on ATS that aliens/ufos will be explained by "the government" or "the military" or "TPTB." This is impossible if you logically think about it. These organizations are run by humans. Whatever is going on here is beyond the natural scope of humans and that is why it's so difficult to talk about. This difficulty applies to everyone across the board, regardless of education, position held in our society, age, gender, etc.

The reason that "disclosure" appears to be close at this juncture in our history is simple. For the first time in our history we have a reference point to draw from! For example, we can imagine spaceships from other planets because we have our own flying ships. So all that is required is the ability to imagine better flying ships. This is the same reason you see the dramatic opening seen in 2001: A Space Odyssey. The ape is learning to use a stick as a club. That is the first reference point. Before that first reference point, we are nothing but mindless animals reacting to stimuli.

So although our current plight seems frustrating, we should be thankful that we are even able to understand the most basic things at all. You and I would understand much less had we lived in the middle ages. And I suspect that the corrupt regimes of the middles ages, would make our leaders look like saints in comparison.

As for the speeding things up part, there may be hope. Information accessibility. The internet is the cure for ignorance. And the internet can spread information at the speed of light. Actually 2/3 the speed of light due to the medium it travels through. So maybe we won't have to wait 800 years like Aristotle.

I've noticed some friends/family paying a little more attention to this subject, and bringing it up in conversation. Most are oblivious to it all, though.

I think it depends on where one's interests lie. My friends/family who are talking a little about it do actually look up at the sky once in a while. I wouldn't see any of them in an Aliens & UFO forum here on ATS, or even browsing Space.com, but they do read the general news, and they're awed with the what the universe holds... even if just a little more than a passing interest.

My friends/family who are oblivious to Gliese 581, and all the other stuff that has found its way to the MSM in recent times, have no interest in the subject. Some of my friends think that Mars is blisteringly hot (because it's red), can't even name the planets in our solar system, etc., etc. They have no interest at all in the subject, so they simply ignore everything related to it. They don't care what's up there.

So again, I think it depends on the disposition of the person, whether or not any form of soft disclosure will even be a blip on their radar. We're looking for it, and they couldn't care less about it. Makes sense.

Well I for one am not ashamed or feel like I would be viewed as weird or a nutcase if I discuss it with my friends and family ....infact I have always had an intrest since I was 12 (now a month from 25) and through out the years I have made the hardest of hard skeptics BELIEVERS.... It is happening and the msm is not doing as much as they could be doing... I told my mom about the UFO confrence that happened almost 2 weeks go now and they mentioned it on our local fox channel and showed a 30 second clip about it. Then I told her about the new planet and again she saw something on it on fox but there little clips and pieces of information.. They really dont go into alot of detail and they only mention it that one time so if your working or taking care of the kids, grocery shopping whatever.... your gonna miss it! There is to much going on with the up coming elections to possibily even THINK about airing a 4 minute segment about a UFO confrence or a NEW PLANET or about the STARCHILD skull DNA RESULTS or anything of real importance... Im sorry but the government is going to do what they are going to do and all politicians are liars! I have voted ever since I turned 18 and Im noticing that they say one thing and do another and thats how its always been, and will always be... nothing NEW THERE!! Yet they would rather discuss that non stop instead of something intresting that could possibily change the way we think, live, or our history if proven to be true... I think SCIENCE is going to prove aliens true, not the governement they will act just as surprised as us, and tell us that "WE HAD NO IDEA!! WERE JUST AS SHOCKED AS YOU!"

I have been getting really excited about all this disclosure chatter, but I'm a noob so you have to cut me some slack. Nobody else I know has noticed. I showed my friends that excellent footage of the china airport UFO and they were all impressed, but then we went about business as usual.

I've read a lot of posts making claim that Full Disclosure could never happen in one BIG BANG, because it would throw the world upside down, with riots, and complete societal collapse, etc. But I disagree with that. If Disclosure happened, I would freak out (in a good way), but eventually, I would need to eat. And pay some bills, and go to work. And so would everyone else. It would change our view points, but life would go on as usual...eventually.

Yes, it's called plausible deniability. The President, Congress, almost anyone the public would know by name, or think of as being 'the government' is very unlikely to be aware of what some secret cabal knows about the UFO situation. Presidents Carter and Clinton tried to find out about this and were put off with excuses. This serves at least two purposes. 1.) It makes secrets much easier to keep. 2.) If the facts do eventually get out, a valid case can be made that most were unaware of these facts, and how they were being kept concealed. Ross

Interestingly enough thats one of the reasons I posted this topic... to see if anyone else has started to see an awakening in those around them that weren't previosuly interested... so maybe I'm wrong... maybe it is getting through to at least some of those previously in the dark?

Yes, I think there is a growing interest in the subject, but I also think that it is due to many, many different things, including the recent coverage of the 'UFO phenomenon' on the main-stream news, in a fashion lacking ridicule, no less. Advances in our own current technologies being another factor; The mars rovers have been bringing back a lot of information about the red planet. New interest in the moon, due to the recent moon missions. And, of course, not to mention all the different 'Alien' themed television shows, and movies playing/debuting in the next few months.

But yes, I'll say again, that there is most definitely a growing/renewed interest in the subject.
