I am sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm still getting used to ATS. That said, has anyone scrutinized Orion as of late? I only ask because of the rumors about Google Sky and Microsoft Telescope blacking out parts of the sky in their programs. If anyone has a detailed thread about this topic please point me to it, the search feature isn't my friend today. TIA

Google Sky keeping Planet X a secret!

This might be what you are talking about.

Nope.

We focus on it almost nightly,
especially now that fall/winter is here.

Nothing unusual.
and Id be the first to tell it if so. lol

Ok.
What would be the point of "blacking out" anything?
All ANYBODY has to do is go look at the sky. If you have binoculars or a telescope, even better, but Orion isn't exactly hard to find! Why don't you leve the computer and just go take a look?

Raining here and been cloudy for a while. Plus, I'm sure there are other people here with very decent telescopes and tracking equipment. I work nights too so it doesn't make it too convenient. Sorry if my computer usage offended you somehow. Thanks for the contribution to the thread though!

I'm not offended.
It's just that I see way too much misinformation on ATS from websurfing when there are so many other sources of information.

What are we looking for in Orion? I'll see if I can make it out tonight but would like to know what about it is "off" or are you just looking to the community to see if anything has been noticed?
