ATS Team:

G'day!

I have seen that many members find some of the older material such as photos, etc... very interesting.

Unfortunately, older videos are very few & far between.

Here's a video that a friend just sent me.....

I thought you might enjoy seeing it

What do you make of it?

Kind regards

Knowing ATS folks, Im guessing their first or second question will be why was that lighthouse being filmed at that particular time, much less on a tripod, which in this day and age no one seems to own when one is seriously needed!

The footage if real though, ROCKS!

but then we will have, its just spotlights scanning the sky for a festival or something to that nature. Did we cover lanterns yet, moving how fast given the distance? Or, it is a reflection off the clouds of.... nevermind, Im done now...

Frankly Maybe, I would like to think this some actually classic footage. Would warm the heart

Very interesting, need a context though, i.e. where, when and orientation.

I like older footage as it was before cgi and photoshop so fakes are far easier to spot

MBMBN-

Looks pretty cool but these days with the capabilities for manipulating videos you never know...
A mass sighting with multiple vids or pictures is really going to be the only thing that passes a CGI/photoshop smell test (such as the Norway Spiral) and then we can debate the source.

You would think the advancements with video technology would clarify things but the capability to muddy the waters advances along with it.

G,day MMN good footage, just out of curiosity how many glowing white objects are you or others seeing, I am counting 4

I was going to say the footage reminds me of the UK area but now I am not sure anyone else got thoughts on this, surely there would be photos around that could pin point the area or someone may even know?

Very interesting, the way the lower object moves upward toward the other when the latter passes nearest it, also the way it darts up quite rapidly, at a steep angle, near the end of the film. Knowing more about the history of the film, and what form it was in when you received it could amount to useful supporting evidence. Ross

I could see someone thinking the best way to get people to NOT think it's CGI is to make it look like it's an old video/film. Guess that's just the cynic in me but the resolution on the waves just seems too good for the rest of the video. And it seems like they tried too hard to make the video look like old film with the lines and skipping.

Interesting footage, would love to know where it originates from. Sadly cos of us Brits propensity for doing the, "We have a flag so we own this now* routine the architecture for lighthouses was carried world wide along with the lay out and designs for their ancillary buildings. The light reminds me of the West coast of the North Americas. The colour of the film looks more American than British to me.If you watch 60s and 70s films the American ones often have that slightly green/brown/yellow tint to the overall picture, European films tend to far *harsher* in their daylight tones.

There were stock film libraries long before the advent of digital technology it could have been shot for one of those, ie need a lighthouse shot... we have one..

There again it could be a complete hoax and it was made a few weeks ago and aged to look like old footage.

If it is genuine, my guess would be . Shot on Kodachrome , probably in the US. Northern Ca Oregon area. or the same sort of latitude on the East Coast.

I agree, going by the distortion in the video (the vertical tracking lines and under-exposure marks) it looks like a typical 40s or 50s recording. By the 60s and 70s the recording tech was better and much of this kind of distortion was eliminated from even home movies. The waves and rocks on the face to the left have way too high a definition relative to the general quality. Also the vertical line distortion does seem engineered. Here is a video shot in the 50s with similar distortion, topic of the video is irrelevant but the first 20 secs shows waves and sea features alongside the same kind of distortion, only the resolution is very low compared to the OP video.

We could do with a few more of those around the place.....

Absolutely!

But.....chances are.....

I don't think it looks very much like spotlights.....

Oh well.....let me know if you think of something else.

That it would!

this video was posted here a long time ago and somebody found the original copy that did not have those ufo's

it may have been internos who found the original, i tried searching for the previous thread but it seems to have disappeared into the abyss.

I don't have that yet.

I note Easynow's comments (below).

I might also ask the person who posted in on YT.

They look like birds to me. (Yeah, you knew somebody had to say it.)

Gulls, maybe.

edit on 10/1/2010 by ladyinwaiting because: They are as likely to be giant seagulls as they are UFO's.

What makes you think this is an old film?

Every single part of this movie, including the color wash the dust / scratches etc can be produced using Adobe after effects with a few button clicks, it's not impossible, it's not even hard. Anyone with a half decent graphics card and a copy of After Effects could replicate it in a single afternoon

I would go so far as to say that the scratch marks are just way to consistent to be real.

hello Wal,

unfortunately the hour is non refundable so i can't help you there but on the brighter side of things, it's fun sometimes looking at the old thread titles while searching that bring back good memories. the old thread could be in the trash bin for all we know but if somebody identified the lighthouse we could use the name to search with.

no i didn't see that but i have now !

yes searching can be frustrating sometimes :bnghd: and having a place to ask for help would be cool since some people are better at searching than others. maybe the ATS staff will consider your proposal.

i do remember that video though, somebody posted it and then someone else identified the lighthouse and found the clip from the original movie and there were no UFOs so it was obvious what happened. might be worth a try asking ArMaP if he remembers it. i dunno

Looks more like a film with a film grain and an aging filters applied, also the way the last UFO appears to be doing a grandstand 'look at me' before the sudden surge upwards says fake to me.

Also the film appears too smooth, something with that much apparent film damage would normally have a little bit of stutter here and there but if you look at the sea it's as smooth as silk.

This doesn't look right. The image is too sharp and the visual distortions look overlayed. Checking out real Super8 footage and the colour reproduction of that compared to this is all wrong.

I trust a good portion of you have seen the Adamski video, for example.

Those UFOs look far too CGI-like as well. Brilliant white lights? Cheap cameras like that could not capture point sources of light that well, and they were never that stable frame-to-frame. The colour, exposure and framing should be all over the place.

Nice try but not old footage.
