I have to admit, a smile came across my face when I read this. This guy fascinates me, he's just too ridiculous. One of those guys who thinks he's really smart and talented, and is just a mechanical mimbo imposter.

Watching him "work" was great, he never really made me mad because I could never take him seriously, playing the race card was predictable and frankly so was his self destruction. Up there, enjoying himself, thinking how "edgy" he was and probably had to be told by several people what a mistake he had just made, and what do you wanna bet, his response began with "Really?" more than once.

I am so not surprised this happened being one that watched this guy on occasion on fox news in south florida. I was kind of shocked when I saw he actually made the "big leagues." I thought the big leagues were for newscasters that had a semblance of brain power.

I have to say though, in a weird way, the fact that John Stewert could actually perhaps blow him out of the box is something worth thinking about. Have we gotten to the point that we actually understand the REAL news hidden in jest and humor? Perhaps the people aren't so stupid after all

Rick Sanchez's remarks were a little more complex than that. He also basically stated that Jews and elitists snubbed their noses at minority reporters --

Well no, he technically said "liberal elitists" are bigoted, not specifically the "Jews".
He never said that at all.

In fact, he even reiterated that point at the end of the video:

"When I say that about someone like John Stewart, somebody way out there in the left, that they can be prejudicial, I am not saying that has to do with whether they are Jewish or not Jewish, you brought the Jewish conversation into this."

Clearly he was commenting based on the anger he felt at being roasted by a powerful liberal like Stewart.

The whole Jewish thing came into play when he was told by the Host of the show that Stewart is also part of an minority group, implying that he too is in the same shoes in terms of claiming to be "oppressed". To which Sanchez laughed.

I have to admit, the concept is kind of funny, when half the most powerful people in the world are Jewish, and you certainly won't find the Jewish equivalent of, say, Compton, anywhere in the States.

I think what actually got him fired was not that he called Stewart a bigot, people on CNN have lobbed names at others in media before, but that he mentioned the fact that Jews are in the major positions of control in the media.

It's a fact that one Jewish reporter said should be celebrated by his people and not hidden:

Who runs Hollywood? C'mon

And maybe my life spent in a New Jersey-New York/Bay Area-L.A. pro-Semitic cocoon has left me naive. But I don't care if Americans think we're running the news media, Hollywood, Wall Street or the government. I just care that we get to keep running them. LATimes

If you bother to simply check, it's true. Yet still there are many people who view saying such a thing as simply being antisemitic, and the reaction from the people in power when one of their mainstream media employees brings up that fact, is to terminate employment.

I mean...if they were all Chinese and I pointed it out, would that be racist??

When asked if Stewart could be considered a minority because he is Jewish, Sanchez balked:

"Very powerless people. He's such a minority, I mean, you know… Please, what are you kidding?…I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart...the people in this country who are Jewish -- are an oppressed minority? Yeah,"

Source

I believe he was thinking in terms of oppression/lack of solidified positions of power.
That is why he clarified the "oppressed" part at the end.

Is he right about CNN and major Networks being run by Jews?
Well let's look at the article I linked to by Joel Stein.

How deeply Jewish is Hollywood?

When the studio chiefs took out a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago to demand that the Screen Actors Guild settle its contract, the open letter was signed by: News Corp. President Peter Chernin (Jewish), Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey (Jewish), Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger (Jewish), Sony Pictures Chairman Michael Lynton (surprise, Dutch Jew), Warner Bros. Chairman Barry Meyer (Jewish), CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves (so Jewish his great uncle was the first prime minister of Israel), MGM Chairman Harry Sloan (Jewish) and NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker (mega-Jewish). If either of the Weinstein brothers had signed, this group would have not only the power to shut down all film production but to form a minyan with enough Fiji water on hand to fill a mikvah.

The person they were yelling at in that ad was SAG President Alan Rosenberg (take a guess). The scathing rebuttal to the ad was written by entertainment super-agent Ari Emanuel (Jew with Israeli parents) on the Huffington Post, which is owned by Arianna Huffington (not Jewish and has never worked in Hollywood.) LATimes

He even adds that:

"The Jews are so dominant, I had to scour the trades to come up with six Gentiles in high positions at entertainment companies. "

So did Sanchez have a point in his sarcasm about Jews being a powerless minority, that runs CNN, the media and of course, Hollywood?

Yeah, he did.

I think his anger was SPECIFICALLY targeted at powerful liberal elitists like John Stewart who he alleged are just as bigoted as any Right-wing elitist, simply because he got roasted for his goofy show.

I don't think Stewart mocked Sanchez because of his race at all, I don't think Stewart is a racist, and I will be at his rally on the 30th with my wife...but that is the only major thing he got wrong. His whole argument regarding his race was weak on that front. John roasts silly reporters all the time.

He let his anger get the best of him, when he should have just laughed it off.

It really doesn't take "belief" to see that there is a huge disproportionate number of Jews that are in positions of power in almost every facet of media. It's a fact no one can intelligently argue, the numbers can't be denied. Now you can debate whether or not this is good or bad, coincidence or not and so on.

But what strikes me funny still regarding Rick Sanchez is that if he was in any way a competent "journalist" or reporter, shouldn't he have know better than to go down this road? Shouldn't his keen sense of awareness and intelligence kept him in line? The man is stupid and proved it once and for all with CNN.

For all we know, the people that work with him hated him as much as the rest of us and just saw this as a convenient "straw that broke the camel's back" to help be rid of him.

People like Rick infuriate media professionals from the key grip to the head of programming, but bored lonely housewives at 2pm in the afternoon must have watched him in enough numbers to justify keeping that buffoon around a bit. But not to worry, I'm sure CNN will pick another "genius" to fill the spot.

I listened to the audio on youtube and i think this anti-semetic rap is a crock. it sounded like he was lashing out at stewart for making fun of him on the daily show. that's why his reasons were so undefined and fuzzy. the wikipedia for sanchez already says:

Sanchez first called Jon Stewart a "bigot", and then said that "everybody who runs CNN" is "a lot like Stewart"[2][9] (which was regarded by major American news organizations as a reference to Jewish ethnicity)

but just an hour ago, what was in paranthesis plainly said (i.e. jewish). its disgusting that people would jump on a bandwagon so fast to protect their fake newscaster that they'd label a man a racist.

Bummer.

Funny....you can call the President a racist and keep your job (GLEN BECK).....can't say anything about Jews though...YIKES.

Sanchez was an idiot anyway....but then again...pretty much all of them are on every corporate news channel...which is why I completely quit watching all of them.

I never watch the news anymore...what's the point? Most of it isn't really news....and anything that is legitimately reported is always given in the view of the extremely wealthy....which sadly....many people repeat...not realizing that those same views hurt their well being while defending those who are actually harming them.

Looks like he'd fit in with the button-down, god/guns/guts conservatives.

Sanchez was crazy going after Jon Stewart. I mean really. Who hates Jon Stewart? He's a smart funny guy, and ya, if you're famous or in the news, you'll get made fun of. Because he's a comedian! That's what they do.

Sanchez's rant against jews was crazy and uncalled for. Sure, there's a lot of zionists that do indeed control a lot of government and media, and I'm no fan of the israeli government, but seriously Rick there is a difference between jews and power hungry zionists (many of whom are not jews).

And, again. Jon Stewart is awesome. He has more real news in 15 minutes than Sanchez puts out there in maybe a month. And is funny while telling it.

Beyond that, and the fact that he was stupid to mention it, I really don't see what the big deal is, then.

Saying John Stewart has a "white, liberal establishment point of view" and is a "bigot" means you can lose your job?

It's a bit unprofessional, but not worth firing the man over. I like John Stewart (and he is a White liberal elitist) but the dude was pissed at the fact that Stewart showed how ridiculous he was on his own show. He just whined about his race for no real reason, and then pouted. It's not the end of the world.

Lou Dobbs got away with murder by comparison for years and Stewarts been called a lot of names by "journalists" in the mainstream media before.

It all comes down to what he said about CNN and the Jews.

I like the jewish people...they have a very strong and powerful community.

One thing never to do in entertainment or politics is get them pissed off...that is career suicide...they may be a small group, but they will rip you up 7 ways to hell.

That is heritage..a culture of surviving hell has made their teeth very sharp.

See ya on commercials Sanchez...I hear shamwow needs a new spokesperson.

Amen do that....

As much as my support has been for Israel in the past years...Zionism in the American media could not be more evident with this little incident. Zionism of course does not represent the Jewish commoner. I have worked along side with Jewish people and know they work as hard as anyone else. However...I am beginning to realize that Zionism is embedded in many aspects of American society. Sure...talk about burning the Quran all you want, but don't mention the fact that prominent Jewish characters have a hold on mainstream media. Not that I'm defending Sanchez, because I do think he's rotten....but the point that gets emphasized is that when you make any slight criticism directed to the Jewish community, you can be fired.

This has been a very interesting read, and I think I agree with you. It's interesting how Sanchez was fired and the reason largely given was that he called Jon Stewart a bigot. After reading your posts, it's even more clear that it probably wasn't that at all (as I mentioned before) and that CNN DID go overboard for Sanchez even mentioning Jews in what could be considered a negative light, even though it's just truth - that they hold a majority interest at CNN and in the media, etc. (which I actually wasn't really aware of. I know that sounds naive, but I honestly don't pay attention to the Jewish discussions around here and I never really thought about it.)

Secondly, I don't 'get' how a Jewish majority in a particular industry would present a problem for anyone, but I guess some are uncomfortable with it. Clearly, CNN is uncomfortable with anyone pointing it out.

I still think Sanchez's victim mindset made him sound like a REAL wimp and could have heavily contributed to his firing. Saying that Jon Stewart couldn't relate to him, like there's some big class gap between them is hilarious! That's like the pot calling the kettle elite. What a bonehead!

Can you imagine how furious Sanchez is this morning? If he hated "the liberal elite" previously, he's fuming now! I wonder how many days before he shows up on FOX...

And I'll have to catch Jon's Monday show on the Internet. Should be interesting. I wonder how he'll couch this story.

Regardless of what anyone thinks or feels about Rick Sanchez the guy was fired for making comments about Jews.
So, who are the untouchables in this society?
If you work in MSM any comment about Jews that is not positive will get you fired, regardless of the truth of the statement.

Who cares? This isn't about maligning Jews.

Any comment about a minority, made with the dismissive tone and attitude that Sanchez had, could get a person fired. Especially if that person is a member of a very visible and respected organization. It could have been blacks, Muslims, women, or the disabled. Don't make it about Jews as "the bad guys". Sanchez, being IN the media, should have known better than to make that statement. I'm not saying he's wrong, but like many before him who have lost their jobs for a slur or implication, he should have known he was taking a HUGE risk. And he lost.

Sanchez is a HERO!!!!!

Stand up to the elite and spit in their face, you did just that Sanchez. We must defend you by boycotting CNN. Drive that elitist network into the ground!

I will say whatever I want about Jews. I'm not an Anti-Semite, I would just say them because I can.

Sanchez was trying to make a point but and while that point for me was a very accurate one, Sanchez got confused. He was blaming all Jews and that is a BIG mistake, it's the Zionist Jews that must be called out and destroyed.

Yes, something is going on behind the scenes alright. First Lou Dobbs, now Rick Sanchez...what is going on is simple, CORPORATE RULE.
What America, and the World really needs is an Independent Media. Right now all we see is a show put on by the corporate rulers of television and radio. The talking heads read the news, they do not Report the news. I long for Walter Cronkite and Huntley and Brinkley.
