Deep inside the computer worm that some specialists suspect is aimed at slowing Iran's race for a nuclear weapon lies what could be a fleeting reference to the Book of Esther, the Old Testament tale in which the Jews pre-empt a Persian plot to destroy them.

News Source Here

I for one hope this was Israel. Screw Iran and their psychotic, genocidal leader. I'm only sad that American experts are some of the ones who made the discovery of Stuxnet and possibly jeopardized the operation.

If America truly had knowledge of this, I'm sure we would have told people to shut up before we started blowing the lid of this thing. What does it say about Obama's relationship with Israel that we were either not told, or are so carelessly leaking information that may provoke the maniac in Iran.

The Stuxnet virus was sent to computers that were meant to be powering a nuclear power plant. Nuclear Power is a legitimate form of energy for any nation to pursue. What gives Israel the right to sabotage this power plant.
To me it is an act of cyber warfare.

Iran hasn't attacked a nation in over 300 years, what makes you believe they are going to attack Israel now?

This would have to be a combined effort of both American and Israeli experts.

Iran is now seeking outside help as the virus becomes even more aggressive.

And here's another development today...Russian has now also been hit with Stuxnet

Of course it's Israel's fault. Them and George Bush.

No other nation could possibly have the technology to write code and place incriminating evidence within it.

Now we have another reason to hate them pesky Jews.

How about this theory:

Iran themselves or one of their allies loaded the virus into their systems, and spread it around a few other countries just for effect.

Why would Iran do this to their own nuke plant?
So that they could then delay/or even shelve the plant as a way of preventing US Israeli attacks.

Could be a good way for them to back down, but without losing the support of those in Iran who want the nuke plant.

They would never wish to be seen to back down in the face of western aggression/threats-but this gives them a way out which would maybe hold off the dogs for at least a while longer.

Just an idea.

Hey...would'nt surprise me. If China got hit then North Korea is only hours or days away.

First, the Stuxnet virus was written to target a specific computer configuration. It wakes up and searches for specific software that handles control processes such as on a nuclear power plant. It also looks for a VERY specific setting in this software. The specialist that cracked the code said that the settings it was looking for were SO specific that he felt this virus was targeting a SINGLE computer. Probably Iran's.

If this virus moves to any computer that isn't running this software in this configuration...no harm.

Was reading an article about Stuxnet found in India and Brazil but damage is not to the same extent as that in Iran. I'd probably add North Korea, Pakistan and perhaps Burma on the list of "things to do" by this Stuxnet virus.

The Stuxnet virus is a magnificent example of cyberwarfare.

The more you look into this particular virus, the more you see how carefully it was written. It was designed to perform specific tasks against specific components of specific targets.

Regarding the source, it is quite possible that the virus is of Israeli origin. It just makes sense, even without the Book of Esther reference.

It's only effective on a Windows system running the Seimens Programmable Logic Controller with a specific parameter setting.

Now, I personlyy don't know how many systems run that specific version of the Seimens software combined with that particular setting, but Ralph Langner (who decompiled the code) thinks it's probably only one.

I've not heard any reports of damage done to any computers in any other countries.

As a matter of fact, I haven't been able to find out if Iran's Bushehr reactor was actually hit.
The last I heard, it was only speculation....

Dearie dearie me... You have zero idea about Iran don’t you??

Please present your evidence that suggests Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is psychotic and has committed genocide??

As far as I can tell having watched Ahmadinejad closely he is a very intelligent, peace loving person whom has been misquoted and misunderstood.

This is a world leader whom has actually said that he wants a peaceful resolution on the issues around the Gazza strip.

Iran has every right to have Nuclear power. What right do we have to say who can and who can't supply their nation with nuclear power??

Iran is not faultless in this escalation though as they should have opened the programme to UN inspectors but who can blame them when it is very clear the western world seems to be against them.

I say give Iran a break and let’s see what happens.

Korg.

The only reason to put a reference from the old testament in a virus would be to shift the blame to Isreal.
if the US did this virus they would not have added this.

That leaves some third party (china, russia, Ngo.) that is trying to instigate a conflict for there own reasons

Or it could be that they are trying to prevent a conflict by giving Iran a "get out clause" like I said earlier.
Sort of makes sense to me.

I totally disagree with you. Perhaps you need to be entertained by Ahmadinejad's violent past history which includes he was very much part of the American Embassy's hostage taking in Iran and his membership of, shall we say, far right wing "militant" groups...I prefer to use the term Terrorist because that's about all he was and is. Throw that in and the fact that Ahmedinejad is only interested in seeking power to control all of the Middle East and knowing the only way to achieve his ambitions is to have the Nuclear Bomb among his arsenal of biological and chemical weapons of mass destruction....taints his "I come in peace" sentiment you want to paint a picture of.

Iran, one of the worst nations on earth has past and present, holds one of the most horrible records of crimes against humanity, especially targeting their Govt's opposition key leaders, minority groups and women.

True, Ahmedinejad is a reasonably intelligent man but definately not the brightest among his Persian brethen, in fact, psychotic (perhaps to some degree knowing his past history) however he is a pathological liar and I would'nt put anything past him.

Perhaps, like Libya.....

but I doubt it. Ahmadinejad is bent on building a nuclear bomb no matter the cost.

Well Bushedr has now convienietly had its opening "delayed",although the Iranians claim its nothing to do with the worm:

www.bbc.co.uk...

Now I don't know if Amadierjhad wants a bomb-but I would if I was in that position, surrounded and hassled by the west...
But the russian built Bushedr reactor is not how it will be acheived from what I have read-the russians will supply the fuel, and take away the spent rods etc.for reprossesing back in Russia.
