No, really i think the costs will be a little too high for general human...
So its again an elite/millionairs dream...
And i am sure you have to sign a special security contract that also mentions in a paragraph to keep quiet about stuff you could probably see up there...

It never ceases to amaze me that Russia still thinks it's relevant in the modern world. This sort of project would be unrealistic coming from the US, sure, but coming from Russia it is just a joke.

I mean, really, who are they kidding?

Russia is the biggest country on Planet Earth by a mile which means it has fantastic resources to invest in the space project that other countries including the USA can only dream about.

Give Russia some respect

Oh please. "Natural resources" aside, they are a 2nd world country, stuck in the past of the days when they were a world superpower. Anyway, my opinion on Russia is limited to it's political and economic power, or rather the lack thereof.

I would very much like to go there someday, just to experience that culture.

I think they've got as much chance as the USA in the future. Russia has immense wealth in natural resourses. It is also becoming an exporting nation, I keep seeing Made in Russia here in the UK on products, can't remember the last time I saw Made in USA. Added to this Russia has plenty of real friends around the world, unlike the USA it hasn't alienated many peoples and religions and still entertains respect from others. Russia is entwined in Asia and will benefit from increasing cooperation with India and China. What's the USA got..... Mexico and Canada? Oh and in the sky above our heads Russia has control, it has lead the exploration and innovation in space, today more than ever. Where's the USA in space......... in a Soyuz?

it sounds really cool! but its dangerous. plus, the russians through space history, where not known for having the safest space stations in orbit* one of the soyuz mission i think it was, 2 comsonauts were found dead..a spacecraft air leak slowly sucked the air out into space. another mission..returning to earth, a parachute didnt deploy : X ona capsule return mission. of course, america dosnt have its own clean record either, witht he exception of challenger 1986, and apollo 8? an astronaut was in a pure oxygen atmosphere cockpit, spark form a wire started, or electrical charge, and ignited the pure oxygen atmosphere, cooking him to death.
thiers gamma rays, those pesky sun flares to have to deal with as well up thier* suppose something does go wrong, and this hotel comes bak in at the wrong angle? theyd either skip off the atmosphere (highly unlikely at a close range, ut wouldnt rule it out either) or of course,,burn up.
it would be a matter of time before it eventually does happen* so at nice at it sounds..its a big risk*

plus..last year and this alone.weve read about satellites having to re divert thier orbits, becuase of spacejunk* all it would take is a sub micronic metal or rocky micron sized parrticle to puncture a hole in anything,or that matter, that has atmospheric pressure* ive seen pics of sub micron holes int he space shuttles windshield. plus with it being humans* i can see it now...ciggarette packs, plastic and glass bottles, excessive human waiste being ejected into space...
that would make one hell of a mess orbiting!

It really doesn't matter what resources or quantity of resources a nation may possess. It doesn't do them any good if the engineering and technology needed to extract and process the raw materials is not readily available.

Give Russia some respect

The ISS may be international but a large part of it was funded by the United States and to think that the Russians are going to put an orbiting hotel into space on their own is something to be ridiculed and mocked. It's apparant that the Russians don't have any idea of the complexities that's going to involve putting persnickety tourists into space.

The Bigelow Aerospace inflatable space station is an interesting venture also vying for funding etc.
But the Russians have got the hardware to get into orbit and that is half the battle .

Out the left window, ladies and gentlemen, you can see the world famous Hubble Space Telescope. Out the left window are Mr and Mrs Willard, who lost their return ticket. Don't lose your ticket folks, it's cold out there!

This makes me glad I am not a millionaire, otherwise I might be tempted.

That is a fair point. The Soyuz is a tried and true, "it just works" feat of engineering. That is one thing the Russians can be counted on for.

But this aim to provide "space tourism", coming from them, is completely unrealistic. That is all I'm saying.

Sounds like someone is still living the cold war propaganda!

Didn't Russia keep up with US on a steady pace in the arms / technology race during the cold war? I have an acquaintance who happened to grow up during the late Soviet-era in St. Petersburg, where she said they had very sought-after education, with lots of international students.

Also, didn't some recent president set some goals on innovation in Russia recently?

I don't have any doubts Russia could produce equally astonishing results as the US (coming from a neutral Swedish point of view).

I sure would like to work as a maid in that space hotel. Just set me up with with an earth view room and pay me in astronaut ice cream and tang. Man the future is cool. With all of these space ventures popping up out there, it does make me feel a bit depressed when i think that i will never be able to take a journey off of this planet. *sigh*

Or perhaps all those ex military and what not making the claims, are just part of the bigger disinformation and misinformation project going on, and there's actually nothing to see up there in the way of aliens and alien spacecraft?
Just a thought, putting it out there.
Why just consider one side of the coin, when there are two?

I did consider both sides of the coin, our culture has been conditioned to BELIEVE the other side of said "coin" lol.

Before saying E.T. is misinformation or disinformation, I suggest do plenty more research on the matter. Take into consideration the CIA were the ones to started disinformation rumors and keyed the term "debunking" about aliens back in the 1950's, so what makes you think they wont do it again?

And, the beginning of all these military, scientists, and etc peoples coming about to the public and informing us of what we should already know, DID NOT just start since the "disinformation/misinformation" project you are speaking of, but even decades before this.
