The polarization of West verse East has definitely changed.

When Obama came to office I thought he was sure different.

Not in the sense of everyone else hoping for his changes.

But in noticing that he hides behind cotton candy words, gumdrop dreams, and rainbow smiles.

Obamaland : Cotton Candy, Gumdrops, and Rainbow Dreams, This is the Land of Collusion

Just like other notorious dictators of history in the past.

He sure smelled fresh, honest, and full of life.

I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Now he sure smells of manure, lies, and full of Washington D.C. as usual.

When someone, anyone, no matter which Government hides behind idealistic words, watch out.

We're in a world of hurt here in America and it started with Bush and is ending with Obama.

Are the Taliban hearing through his lies, obfuscations, and bureaucracy shuffling too?

Perhaps.

Exactly, Taliban propaganda really is poor. I can't understand the logic behind this announcement even if it were true. This is giving the impression that they do not want a peaceful resolution and that they are in a position of power and capable of achieving a decisive military victory. They could have invented a far better lie.

Who is the announcement directed at? A public disinterested with macho posturing, who want nothing more than an end to this war? Or a military establishment which knows that they are lying? Nice one, Terry.

The number of IEDs used by the Taliban in Helmand has fallen by almost a third in the last four months alone. Out of the 240 senior Taliban commanders at least 65 have been removed, along with innumerable lower-level commanders and foot soldiers. British deaths: 20 in June; 16 in July; 7 in August; 6 in September. Touch wood this trend will continue.

They aren’t in a good position right now and it’s only going to get worse for them. Negotiating is their only chance of achieving anything.

I am really getting sick of the whole Middle East scenario.

My gut and my heart say's enough is enough.

I am sick of UK and US troops paying the ultimate price for a war we just can't win whilst we fight under the restraints we do.
I am sick of the UK and US being portrayed as devils incarnate whilst they try to bring a bit of order to a region that has been beset by religious, tribal and cultural warfare for literally centuries.
I am sick of the UK and US being demonised whilst their opponents deliberately surround themselves with and endanger civilians whilst carrying out their attacks.

But what is the alternative?
We pull out and "let them get on with it?"
And how many deaths will occur then.
There are far too many scores to settle and retribution would be very bloody.

People forget the brutal intolerance of the previous Taliban regime.
They were relentless and unswerving in their repression of anyone who disagreed with or contravened their barbaric interpretation of Sharia Law.

Make no mistake, if The Taliban regain even a semblance of power and control in Afghanistan, whether negotiated or not, then they will re-inforce their beliefs upon everyone.
And they have previously stated that they will stop at nothing to achieve their stated goal of the imposition of their particular brand of Islam regardless of the wishes of the majority population's wishes.

From a moral viewpoint can we sit back and see that happen again especially when we have the means to prevent it?

Now I am not that naive that I think morality or the future well being of the Afghanistan people's are the only or even primary reason we are active in Afghanistan.
Oil and Opium are two other obvious major considerations and I am under no illusions that they and the interests of the Arms Industry are probably the biggest drivers for our continued presence.

And what of the future stability of the region if we pull out?

If The Taliban ever secure control of Afghanistan again I very much doubt they will stop there.
They have close cultural and religious links with many in Pakistan.
Many of these supporters would like to see a similar regime in Pakistan.
Quite a few have positions of influence within Pakistan security and Armed Forces and have been known to conspire with elements within The Taliban on several occassions in the past.
And so how long would it be before Pakistan followed Afghanistan down the path to Islamic fundamentalism?

And so how would India, a burgeoning world power with a long history of unrest with Pakistan, China and even Israel then react to The Taliban having control of nuclear weapons?
A veritable powder keg with possible dangerous implications for all of us.

I think we are wrong in thinking we can impose 'western' style government and society upon Afghanistan, or anywhere for that matter.
But we can not let The Taliban gain control either.

What's the answer?
Hell, I don't know!
But I do know that even though we've made mistakes and we aren't exactly the most altruistic nations, I'm still sick of the criticising both the UK and US get and I think the world would be a much worse a place today if it wasn't for what our troops and nations have done and continue to do.

Good to keep informed by all means, but to a 'fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on
me" American Citizen, Its all George Orwellian propaganda to me. I mean honestly, the boys in Afga
do not even know whats going on, why should I even consider a word that the second hand media
has to say? It is like the boy who cried wolf at this point. It seems to me that there are more targets
to be serviced on the United States/Mexico border than there are in Afga. Whats with the Karzai
Roadblocks? Is that what are men are there for. I mean C'mon if you got something to say,
Well Friggin say it. Are we there to 1. Control the worlds Opium Supply
2. Set up Natural Resource Recovery
3. Create a Stable Strategic Base for Pending Conflict
4. To Drain U.S.People of their Tax dollars
5. Kill Kooks before they kill us
6. Have one Hell of an Expensive Party
7. All of the above
If I have missed something, like we are in search of the Holy Grail or something of that nature, please
FRIGGING SAY IT. Be Honest to The American People that you Swore An Oath to Before God,
or Be Gone. Penta Gone

Are you meaning to tell me that The Pentagon Budget which absorbs American Peoples Life Savings,

and then spends more than the next 7-8 (or more) countries in The World of Planet Earth Combined

Every Year, can not plot a quick and rapid solution for Afghanistan/Pakistan? You have got to be

Joking. What the hell are we paying all that money for? So that you can ride around the Pentagon

from office to office on Scooters while our country goes bankrupt? You are either Incompetent,

Traitors, or Liars ... to the very people

you swore an oath to protect. I smell the rotting corpse of Benedict Arnold. The Stench of Treason.

Plot a Solution, Concur, Execute Order Sir, and for the sake of ALL The Citizens of The United States

Of America, Our Flag, Our Spirit, Our History,Our Future, and Our Beloved Constitution,,,

Prove Me Wrong.
