BEIJING--China and Russia are presenting a united front in their claims over Japanese territories through a joint statement on World War II, with China eager to increase pressure on Japan after an incident near the Senkaku Islands, and Russia hoping to curry favor with Beijing as it eyes its neighbor's huge appetite for energy.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Chinese President Hu Jintao signed the joint statement Monday in China. By doing so, the two leaders sought to emphasize their cooperation based on a shared view of history regarding the victory over Japan. The two sides also signed a joint statement to strengthen their strategic partnership.

As I said previously, China is finally flexing its muscles and pushing towards US territories, since US is in no position to defend its territories.
I also said previously that US will let go of these Islands, in the hope that China doesn't push even further, but I suspect China with the help of Pakistan will push towards India, that is why the tensions in Indian Kashmir is growing, and Chinese troops are present in Pakistani Kashmir.
China has played its cards very well. Now time to push the US back to its own continent slowly.

“During the visit, Antony held detailed discussions with his US counterpart Gates and reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral defence cooperation, including the progressively increasing trade in military-technical equipment, service to service exchanges, joint military exercises and collaboration in defence technologies,” it said.
“The two principals also exchanged views on the situation in India’s neighbourhood and noted that the expanding bilateral defence cooperation was in mutual interest,” officials said but gave no further details.
Mr Antony, who is visiting Washington for talks aimed at strengthening defence ties between India and the US, complained that some American weapons given to Pakistan to fight the militants were being diverted against India.
NEW DELHI: India and Japan will have their first army-to-army talks aimed at reviewing the present status of engagements, military cooperation and military security issues, starting here on Tuesday.
