You saw the same things I did, bravo
At the start it appears very low, 40ft max. Notice the size of it as it approaches the camera and goes behind the lamppost. It then continues back to the left in the same spot on the lamppost that it just passed. It then appears at cloud level as it goes away- but it is the same size?

Another member "Maybe...Maybe Not" contacted the OP via youtube. The OP said that he was in a rush to capture it, it was 5am on his way to work, noticed the light and filmed it with an LG, 2 megapixel phone and the video mode was set to mute, didn't have time to mess around with settings so went for silent video to at least capture some footage. He also said the object was silent anyway so the absence of a soundtrack is neither here nor there IMO. I personally doubt very much that it was a helicopter, I've seen loads of them and never once saw one that did this. If it was a chopper then there should have been coloured lights when the white light went out.

Regards,
WCS

Maybe the cloud cover was relatively high, and the object was huge.

My first though was perhaps a helicopter searching for something too...until i saw the uniform light reflecting off the cloud cover.

It's a genuine UFO, whatever it actually is.

Cheers.

Not all rockets and missiles create tails. Also, at night, most tails are hard to see, especially when they are far away.

Also, don't let the flight path fool you. It's all about perspective. The entire flight path of the object can be explained as an arc, but from a certain perspective will appear like it made a sharp turn.

For example, imagine shooting a basketball into a hoop 10 feet away. From the shooters perspective you would see the ball go straight up, pause slightly, then straight down. Tilt your head to the left and the ball would appear to go left to right, pause slightly, then go right to left, just like the video with a few differences after the pause.

Yea, it doesn't look like a helicopter, the way the lights go out. But I can't understand why anyone would have their vid-mode set to mute. I didn't even know there was an option to. It just seems a bit convenient. I'll take his word that there was no sound to be heard, but there's no proof of course.

Regards, D

I could not help but notice that you moved your camera back to the left while the 'lighted object" was sitting still.

How did you "anticipate'" it's movement so well?

I am not making any statement of belief or not. I have seen others do this and thought I would ask you how you knew where it would go next?

He doesn't anticipate its' movement. The object comes to almost a halt and the guy goes to try and centre it in frame, perfectly logical, then the object begins to move to the left.

As for an arc? The object, to my eyes and judging by the light on the cloud, heads up at an angle then travels in am almost flat trajectory under the cloud before vanishing. That is some freaky missile if it managed that.

It's a light with a shade being reflected in a window! It's obvious! Note how the object moves in perfect synchronicity with the camera as it pans right. The light is reflected perfectly in the second lower light and it clearly passes IN FRONT of the lampost.

People are so easily fooled on here, they'll believe ANYTHING.

The object is quite clearly behind the lamppost. Sorry but if you think it is in front you need to have your eyes checked.

Very interesting clip.

I look forward to see what comes of this.

Australia is sure heating up with sightings and reports over the last few years and Darwin is gaining a lot of attention also.

I wonder what the increasing fascination with Australia is?

Good question! But I have a feeling UFOs (man-made and/or alien) have always been out there but I agree, we do seem to be seeing/catching them on a more regular basis lately which leaves me at least three possible explanations.

One. We're more cognizant of them and with every one having a camera on hand at all times, it's helping to bring this phenomenon to the forefront and front pages more often. We're all just, looking up a lot more than ever before (and I thank/blame chemtrails to a certain extent)

Two. There may be more UFOs now then ever before. Maybe their production line has peaked (which would help explain the 1 trillion missing US defense dollars from 2001) and their presence is purposefully being exploited for reasons, yet unknown right now.

Three. Maybe planet Earths 'veil' is breaking down. Maybe we're able to catch glimpses of these objects (like Rods?) that exist (for all intents and purposes...) in parallel or other dimensions.
Maybe there's something to 2012 (with our position in the Milky Way) where things (3rd dimensional beings/objects) start exposing themselves a lot more now.

It could be a slew of events/reasons as to why we're seeing more anomalous things in our skies. And I've only touched upon three of them.

I am wondering why you removed both your posts? I was just about to address your arguement but perhaps you changed your viewpoint. But here (don't want to waste the 3 wasted minutes I took doing this so) ....for what it's worth.

The 'two' lights you referred to are reflective (lens flares) from the two lamp posts.

The object in question absolutely goes behind some sort of post and becomes obstructed from view.

I was really impressed at first (after the windscreen reflections
) but a few things have changed my mind...

As an airplane leaves contact with the tower, and connects to a regional grid, they shut off the "landing lights". This looks just like that and at about the correct altitude.

Because of the cloud cover and poor phone vid quality we would likely not be able to see the red or blue wing tip lights of a plane.

Also, the semi-circle arc of the light and continual-speed movement seem to me like an airplane taking off.

~ just speculation though.

Fair enough but what say you to this? Why would an airplanes headlight still be visible if it's in a circular maneuver?
Think about it. Say this is your car. And you're doing a 3-point turn. Your headlights would be in front of YOU as you move. They wouldn't still remain to the left (for argument sake) while you're turning your car to the right.

So, this doesn't appear to be a plane taking off or descending unless Australian planes have underbelly spot lights that I'm unaware of.

4. My phone video camera was unfortunately set to mute audio at the time, due to the mad rush I was fiddling around too much. I just wanted to get the video before I lost it.

The phone was a LG KP500

The sound issue seems fishy to me. If you listen to the video, you can hear that the sound was on for a few seconds, and then it cuts out. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MUTE THE VIDEO SOUND WHILE YOU ARE ALREADY RECORDING. I don't know of one single LG phone that allows you to change settings while recording, especially mute it.

www.5min.com...

Also, the person keeps saying that it was a 2.0 megapixel camera. But the LG500 has a 3.0 megapixel camera.

Also, the megapixel rating is only for the still camera, not the video camera. The video cameras have to record at a considerably less resolution than the still camera because of the limitations. The video camera can't record at 2 or 3 megapixles, only the still camera can.

The sound issue raises some major flags. It's impossible to mute the sound while you are already recording. I think the person is hiding the sound.

Ive seen our choppers do manovers like this often (especially in my area) when chasing what we call 'hoon drivers'. Its a great video, but the absence of sound (after there being quite obvious sound in the first few secods) and the slow returning motion as it turns its light off, leads me to believe helicopter. for example;
Example 1 Mute the sound on this, and increase the distance, add a crappy phone video recorder, and you have the same thing.
Example 2 Very similar, filmed with a much better camera where light sources will not 'bleed' into eachother. (thats one of our aussie hospital choppers)

I don't want to flat out state anything about the video, as i was not there, seeing it with my own eyes, But from the evidence put forth, its a chopper

Like other posts say very interesting. It quite possibily be a military flare falling then burning out. A flare would light up the surrounding cloud cover. Remember the Phoenix lights.

Falling upwards ? Come on, it is a rising object not a falling one.

As for the first few seconds of video having sound. It's less than a second, not the first few.

From the KP-500 manual.. Voice - Choose Mute to record a
video without sound.

..wow...that was actually a very solid video of a true UFO (flying saucer? Maybe...but too hard to tell)

whatever it was, it moved gracefully and it disappeared in an instant....

top notch video in my opinion.

This thread is going along fast...

Over a ten year period around Rainbow Beach to Gympie in Queensland there were numerous sightings.. amongst them were quite a few from different fishermen about large objects entering/or leaving the water off the coast.
