How does SkyNews scoop CNN regarding the UK Sailors

Notice the thread below. It is breaking news, from Skynews' website, of the release of the UK sailors. It states that the sailors were placed aboard a plane and in the custody of British diplomats. Their destination: the British embassy in Teheran.

Appearing a few hours later in CNN's website (see below) is an article with practically the same information.

www.cnn.com...

CNN has been beaten in reporting a great deal of high profile news stories. Was it always like this? How did they get their reputation of a news leader?
