TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian forces crossed into neighboring Iraq and killed 30 fighters from a group it says was involved in last week's bombing of a military parade, state TV reported Sunday.

Gen. Abdolrasoul Mahmoudabadi of the elite Revolutionary Guards said the "terrorists" were killed on Saturday in a clash "beyond the border" and that his forces were still in pursuit of two men who escaped the ambush.

While Iran has said in the past it would target armed groups on Iraqi soil this is a rare case of it actually admitting to an attack.

Iraqi officials have complained in the past about Iranian artillery targeting armed Kurdish opposition groups on its soil.

An explosion during a military parade in the town of Mahabad, in Iran's northwestern Kurdish region, killed 12 women and children on Wednesday.

Hmm, makes me wonder where the Iraqi police force, military, or even some of these "advisers" Obama left in Iraq were when all this went down.

If its proven that the kurds were responsible for the terrorism in iran, then I would support the move.

terrorism should have no protection, even when on the "right" side of the fence...

As far as where the advisers were...they are in their little bunkers giving strategic information and training as it said it would do.

Iraq has to deal with its security now...and that means curbing the terrorist organizations within its own borders...kurds may have been helpful to us, but that does not mean allow them to set up terrorist attacks elsewhere...that makes them no better than any other thug group of extremists.

now, if it is proven they didn't have anything to do with the terrorist attacks in iran, then ya...this could be a problem.

TEHRAN - The main elements behind the recent bombing in Mahabad have been killed, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces Commander Mohammad Pakpour announced on Sunday.

A bombing in the northwestern city of Mahabad on Wednesday, September 22 martyred 12 women and injured around 80 other people.

“In a successful operation, the key elements behind the recent terrorist act in Mahabad were killed,” Brigadier General Pakpour said.

“The investigations showed that the Zionist regime’s spy agency Mossad was behind this terrorist act, and in collaboration with some Americans and some elements of the Iraqi Baath Party, sent a terrorist team to Iran in order to perpetrate this heinous crime,” he stated.

“After several days of diligent efforts, the IRGC forces managed to track the terrorists down and surrounded them in a border area, where they joined up with other counter-revolutionary elements. In an operation that was carried out on Saturday, many mercenaries of the global arrogance, including the key elements behind the terrorist act in Mahabad, were killed,” he explained.

“The terrorists were seeking to cross the border,” he added.

The Iranian city of Mahabad is located near the border with Turkey.

This is vague. So if the "terrorists" in this case were "many mercenaries of the global arrogance," Mossad, Americans and Iraqi Baath Party, as the article claims the Iranians are saying, does this mean they just went in and started a war with these elements?

If so, this could be the reason Isramerica was looking for to destroy another element of the Axis of Evil- Iran.

There have been rumors of orders to deploy some military in the last couple of days on American soil for civil unrest. If it is found out after the fact that forces have already attacked Iran- yeah, there could be civil unrest in the US. The last straw was already Iraq. So what would an attack on Iran be? The final straw minus 1?

Cross border incursions seem to be the going norm. I am just waiting for the hypocritical Washington denouncement of this rare action by Iran. Or maybe they will realize it might better to keep their mouths shut. After all, the US has been pursuing "insurgents" (
) into Pakistan, as well as reports of incursions into Iran itself for quite some time.

And Washington doesn't seem to be bothered either by Mexican military incursions across the border into the US. Over 300 of them, as testified to a congressional subcommittee panel which I saw myself.

Yeah Washington, go ahead and denounce this action so I can nail you to the wall.

I must say though, I am curious how Iran found the source of those bombings so quickly.
Maybe the same way the US decided to invade Afghanistan so quickly with no evidence of Bin Laden committing 9/11?
Aren't intelligence agencies just great? :shk: I don't recall any group claiming responsibilities for the Iran bombing?

Nothing new.

No matter who controls Iraq, the kurds will be attacked. Jordan will be reported next.

Also, the Kurds are making a power play. Read CNN.

The area is controlled by the Kurds. The Iraq govt has no real power there. The Iraqi govt basically gives Iran tacit approval to Iran to go after the Iranian Kurds that hide across the border in Iraq. And Iran does it on a fairly regular basis.
