If there are in fact moderate Muslims, they have been quiet as mosque mice regarding their views.

Moderate Muslims are out there, in an overwhelming majority, the problem is, they can scream peace all they want but the right wingers and bigots aren't listening. The right wingers and bigots aren't paying attention, they aren't paying attention because they don't want to hear from the Moderate Muslim.

For example, Americans don't know if moderate Muslims recognize Israel.

No Mr Nugent, I am sorry, you don't want them to move the proposed mosque out of concern and sensitivity, you want them to move the mosque out of your own bitterness and hate. Don't confuse the two. America has the 1st Amendment, this is a double edged sword. On one side, this says that you can protest the mosque all you want. Knock yourself out, if you don't like it, go down to New York with a sign and scream about it till your hearts content.

On the other side of that same 1st Amendment right is the right of a religion to worship the way they choose. Which means that they get to build the mosque despite your opposition to it. Ain't the first amendment fun?

We also don't know if there are other freedom-loving and freedom-fighting Muslims who respect the rights of others to burn the Koran, draw cartoons of Muhammad in newspapers, hold marches to condemn Hamas and other terror organizations, write unflattering books about Islam, and vigorously support allowing people of other faiths to practice them in the city of Mecca, where all religions except Islam are currently outlawed.

I am sure that there are plenty of Muslims that could care less if you burnt the Koran, I am sure that there are plenty of Muslims that could care less if you drew a picture of Muhammad.



Now, you want people of other faiths to be able to practice their religion in Mecca? Well, first Mr. Nugent I would ask you or anyone else that asks this question if they even know where Mecca is. If you don't know where Mecca is, why the hell are you complaining?

But to answer your question it's not Muslims that you have to ask if you can practice your faith in the city of Mecca, its actually the Saudi royal family, specifically Prince Khalid al Faisal. But I really doubt you care. Besides, that is Saudi Arabia and it's not the United States. We aren't Saudi Arabia we are the United States and being the United States we are better because we allow diverse religion. (even though right wingers detest the thought of religious freedom in this country)

It's obvious to me that you Mr. Nugent have no idea about Islam or the people that believe that religion. My advice would be to expand your mind and meet with people of the Muslim faith and have an open and honest discussion with them. Perhaps you will in the end have a better understanding, however I doubt it because it has been my experience that most right wingers aren't tolerant of anything that is outside of their little comfort zone.

He makes an excellent point, one that for quite sometime I have been trying to bring on threads that are about this same topic.

Is not such thing as "moderate" muslim, because that is not allowed in the Islamic laws a converted Islamic follower doesn't have room for "moderation" they practice the same Islam that People in Islamic countries practice, regardless what Islamic followers tells here in the US.

Islam is a religion of intolerance plain and simple, their laws tells the true nature of what the religion is all about, including the place of women and what they call the infidels and enemies.

There is a difference in an individual following a religious law and a community following one.

In the US there is separation between church and state, yet many Christians want to break that down and impose Christian sharia on the country.

They want to teach creationism; prevent abortions; have prayer in school, and many other “Christian” religious laws imposed on this secular country.
