With Iraq "taking over' their own country on June 30..I am wondering what is going to be magical about the 30th and what is going to be happening on July first? I think there is going to be total mayhem. Any ideas?

Shouldn't this thread be in predictions

Total mayhem is not even a good starting place. July 1st is CANADA DAY. Not only that its also when France faces off against the Netherlands in the EURO 2004 semifinals. That is mayhem, right there.

Either than that, no such terror activity will happen, excluding the idea that the US will still be dropping bombs on helpless countries. Bush is full of (c), as are the people that support him. Why is Rumsfield still Chief of Security

It will be a lot like 6-29-04 and 7-02-04.

Why should anything be different? bombings, killings, beheadings, I cant imagine what else they will throw into the pot.

Any organized hostile militia, especially those backed by Iran, will try very hard to badger America into another siege situation. They need to create overwhelming popular outcry to get U.S. troops out of the country as soon as the Iraqi government has that power.
If they can do it before November it will be a catastrophe for Bush. Republicans will feel that we have abandoned Iraq to chaos and made the whole fight in vain. Democrats will say it proves that we were wrong to invade. It could cost Bush republican voters who weren't sure about the war as well as the vast majority of the undecided vote. Iran wants Bush out, because they remember the role that left-wing foreign policy played in the nuclear development of Korea.

So... all hell is going to break lose, not in general, but in a couple of neighborhoods, with the goal of polarizing the country even further against US troops. I expect the iraqi government to explicity ask US troops to leave, and possibly to request further help from Russia. This depends in large part on America's covert influence over government members, as well as that of Iran.

What's gonna happen on July 1st?

Well, the sun's gonna rise, and set. People will keep on doing stupid things, and annoying me.

I'll get over it.

How's that for a prediction?

Maybe we can use airplanes to drop loads of little Canadian flags over Baghdad... that way they'll be too confused and befuddled and going "huh?" to think about fighting

Seeing as it's Canada Day, I don't have to predict that we will be celebrating Canada's 136th birthday.
