It has hit me hard. All this talk of end of days, the apocolypse, armegedon, the big quake coming, solar flares and black spots, the imminent collapse of the sea bed in the Gulf of Mexico, alien invasion, satan in the vatican, no, wait, in the White House, super volcanoes.. on and on...has made me realise that I have been buying into The Lie. I've been consumed with 'The End', devouring all the latest info on our potential demise. Being prudent and prepared is one thing, being addicted, quite another. Dear God. We argue about being controlled by tptb and yet, here, on some strange subterranean level, seeds are planted which keep many of us in a state of thraldom, held under 'The Thumb of Doooom'!
I AM GUILTY of buying into this hype, this scare mongering; of believing it has some real significance. Even if the end were to occur as I type, IT DOESN'T MATTER. We can live in fear OR we can just LIVE. I refuse to subscribe to the ticking-time-bomb lark any longer. I'm going out now to get some groceries, then I'm coming home to tidy up a bit, do some work then meet friends later for a drink and a catch up. I could get hit by a bus while I'm out. Oh well...
Carpe diem.

Good to see you have become enlightened, 1 less fear mongering alarmist I need to laugh at.

Great post I agree with you. We are only controlled by ourselves. I was into the endtimes 2012 conspiracies for a while. I am now over it. I don't think something is going to happen but if it does it is out of my control. I think these conspiracies spread fear and paranoia.

No, I am not guilty of this.

I do not buy into the hype and I have tried to keep people positive.

I don't read 99.8% of that garbage, but every once in a while one catches my eye. I don't want to know when I'm going to die or when the world will end, unless there was something i could do to prevent it; otherwise it is useless information.

Thanks guys, I've been such a thicko!
Segador; it'll be nice to laugh WITH you!
Ignorance D, yes, we control ourselves and of course I know that, just went off track there for a bit!
Cat, hopefully I'm on the road to proper enlightenment...

Great stuff! I'm so happy for you...

Unfortunately for me I've already sold my house and with the proceeds built a SHTF bunker, I now spend my days learning about survival and checking "Timewave Zero" data so I can be as ready as possible when the end begins..
I don't think of myself as "guilty" for becoming strongly invested in the doom-mongering, I do it because I've already spent the money so hopefully when it happens and I can sit back with a nice cold beer and watch (throught my network of cameras) people like you fighting for your own survival, much like in the film "Running man"...

So enjoy what time you have left by all means....

Dont feel guilty. The methods TPTB use are powerful, and there are few, if any people unaffected by them.

At the end of the day, preparing for the worst is a good idea. History tells us that nations, empires and civilisations rise and fall all the time. Its an inevitable part of human nature.

The only people who should be guilty are those who are creating the current insanity just so they can profit from it or get off on the power they have.

Guilty as charged your honor, there was a time many years ago as a teenager i bought into the end of the world we're all gonna die in a nuke war, well that failed to happen then i bought into the y2k thing and even stored water and food for my then pregnant wife and myself as well as putting up an emergency survival kit. Then for a time i listened to the mkultra stuff mind manipulation and the ufo/lizard aliens stuff and the religious stuff and recently the eco we're all gonna die in a flood errm freeze errrm overheating stuff and to be honest looking back its all been a hell of a roller coaster ride especially the last bit over the last couple of years when the ride came to an end and i grew up realizing that i was being manipulated into a soap opera of crap fed by mainstream and independent media whatever their motives are ( sales probably ), i dont doubt we're having an impact on the environment but mother Earth is a tough old bird and will way outlast our little antics its apparently happened before and she survived, its even possible that we are being observed and visited by Aliens but if they wanted to eat our brains they would of done so a long time ago when we couldn't put up as much resistance such as suicide of the human race through nukes or bio/chemical weapons and hell we're gonna take some of you with us , most UFO's are probably black ops craft i mean if they are showing what are used in war nows what the hell are they hiding from us ?
Its a mushroom existence i believe we're kept in the dark about a lot of stuff and fed on b*llsh*t but i do know the truth about one thing, i don't know it all and that is kinda liberating in itself and cant be taken away from me so im gonna keep an open mind, sit back enjoy my family, my pint of beer or two, my friends and life generally without the crap interfering and look out the corner of my eye and see what happens

Oh and btw welcome to the end of the roller coaster ride mate

It all comes down to your perceptions of a thing.

I've watched, and read, had my own Visions and assimilated what Felt Right to me.. and yet all I see is not Doom and Gloom.. instead I see it as Opportunity.

It is about Perception.

I see the end of how humans have been living on this world to be a massive Positive for this world and those who remain.

Even if nothing happens.. no world changing events.. no alien arrival... then human beings will still continue to poison ourselves, will continue killing each other in ever more interesting ways and turning what was a magnificent planet into one big garbage heap.. until we finally strangle life off this world.

If our Might is Right Mentality wins out over our poisonings then we get to experience it's natural completion... a short sharp BANG instead of the longer drawn out whimper.

Now that "normal" scenario has to be the biggest Doom and Gloom going folks. Give me catastrophic earth changes anyday.. at least that way there wil be survivors to build anew in equality.

Yep, it's all about Perception.

Is it cool to S&F an older post? Well this deserves one. Since I was 12--and that was more than 30 years ago ouch--I've felt that I was gonna get to see "it"--the end of the world as we know it--whatever that ultimately means.

And wading through the posts here, I see & personally recognize the symptoms of obsession amongst many. But, I've come to the same conclusion that life is for living and I don't want a life of fear.

I don't stockpile as much as I used too, but I keep it in mind somewhat as I shop. Portable water filtering is a good thing to have. I mean, the world may not end, but we know that natural catastrophes--think Katrina--or possible economic issues are valid enough reasons to have some necessities in reserve.

One of the posters above spoke of how prepared he was with cameras and what-not, but maybe fails to realize that should it hit the fan to that degree, if a hungry & deranged mob somehow couldn't take your "castle" by force, they will gladly and gleefully burn it to the ground and I doubt you'll be laughing at your monitors then. That's assuming you're off the grid and have electricity to run anything for very long.

So, I still watch the climate so to speak, but I try not to let the darkness permeate my outlook nor look fearfully over the tilted edge of doom, but to keep my eyes on the road before me. Good OP. Peace.

Thanks T Gut. Something said have a quick look through my past threads and I saw your new post. Yes, so much of what you say is true. It's funny - in light of Obama's trip to India I found myslf almost getting sucked back in to 'The Predictions'. Then I remembered to live for today and let tomorrow take care of itself; to practice what I preach and remember my signature! Right now my 'present' is helping my son with his homework and doing the supper dishes. I feel very blessed. And I mean that.

Wishing you the very best,

Glad to hear it. I get "yelled" at all the time on ATS for telling people to stop following these predictions like little lambs.

fear of change? fear of pain? fear of loss? fear of death? No, i don't fear change. If you can't handle it go away. All arent like you, to me these changes are a era time chance, it is not frightening but i can tell you what it is: exciting. Im waiting for it. No.. i'm building the changes with my own hands. I wont just sit and fear like a fool or flee to a senseless worthless and illusory life. I fight and i enjoy my choice.

Now you should know almost all prediction especially end of the world's stuff is junk. But end of time will surely happen. Not an end to everything, just an end to human. I can tell it by watching the degeneration of the world. I saw a post asking earlier
"why do people hope for a world's end?"
Because they probably feel hopeless and dont see another exit, another way to change things. To renew a world needs destruction. Thats what some could think.

I think you may have misunderstood my OP. I have no problem with change, to live is to accept change. And I agree, things are exciting and I actually feel more alive in the knowledge that anything could happen any second now. Keeps us on our toes. It's quite thrilling and energising. My problem was I had started to get far too engrossed with every new 'prediction' or 'prophesy' that came on to the web site and was overwhelmed with the doom and destruction scenario's being sent out as I was beginning to buy in to some of them. Duh! - living in the future and not in the now. Of course SOMETING'S gonna happen, but, instead of getting sucked in to the fear mongering , while making my childrens breakfasts I keep my eyes open and my wits about me (so to speak) and get on with the business of living in these interesting times.
Peace

Exactly the right approach! Forget all the soothsaying. It's not what's important. Realize that you create the future by consciously making choices about your present. Be *conscious* in those thoughts and choices. You literally recreate your world every moment in what you do, what you accept, what you choose, what you think. If you want your own personal utopia, please be brave enough to live as though that is already your world! Do it! It's not a matter of "wishing". It happens with every bizarre, quirky, wacky, astounding moment. It's happening all around you. Be aware of your world. Live your perfect world.

There are some things to be of as you go along. You must know why you want things the way you want them. If you want a flash new car and a big #-off house and a bulging bank account, think about *why* that's important to you. Is it really important at all? Is it just a way to feel superior over others? Isn't that showing your insecurity? Do you really even like that stuff? Really?

At the end of the day, very little of what we think we need turns out to be a real need. It's a cover for something we're lacking. Same goes for things we want, but more so. Stuff that "would be nice to have" just really isn't. De-clutter your house, your relationships, your life. Focus on the important things.

Ready, set, go!
