Another reason to boycott Budweiser (other then the beer tasting like waterdowned swill)... immoral pigs making a buck off a tragedy in hopes to look patriotic.

Gee...swell.

I raise a middle finger to whoever made this commercial and raise an eyebrow in question at those who applaud it.

One of the most disgusting displays of marketing I have ever witnessed.

lol. So wait a minute.

Budweiser spends its OWN MONEY to make a commercial to pay tribute to victims of 911. And they are the bad guys.

But ATS,ect..SELLS ADVERTISING SPACE(making a profit) to lets say (Loose change or whoever has the cash) and all of the sudden its OK and MORAL?

You're a tad emotional... Breathe for a second!

Budweiser is responsible for the content of their ads. Not NBC or CBS or MTV or any other entity.

If I own a billboard and I rent it to you I am not responsible for the content that you choose to put upon it, aside from issues of legality. If you use the billboard to put up an ad that people don't appreciate, it is NOT my fault, nor can the ad, nor the reaction, be linked to me.

The network - or ATS is only sells canvas, or, more specifically bandwidth. What advertisers transmit through that bandwidth is all on them.

Im not emotional. just trying to type fast enoughto keep up with you 2.

No. Budweiser can make any ad they want(lets say with a naked Obama drinking a beer while in the pool with a sheep). But if NBC or ABC PLAYS that ad, gues whos in trouble..NOT BUD.

I mean you no ill will Boony...but really good man, this is far beyond tasteless/tactless and in the league of directly slapping the faces of all those paying proper attention.

This commercial is an insult in my eyes...

Heck, wonder if they will make a commercial where a bunch of horses go and bow at the graves of all those who died without a liver due to drinking themselves into oblivion? Even if they did, that would surly be more "forgivable" then this piece.

Like I said, no ill will towards you boon...but sometimes you confuse the hell out of me...very much in fact.

Perfect example

I find the WWF to be a good organization, and their agenda ultimately to be noble...however, they also exploited human tragedy to further their own organization.

Some can say it was respectful...but this commercial to me makes me hope someone got fired from their marketing department for such a shameless display to bring attention to what they were selling.

Is this also a perfectly fine use of the tragedy?

edit on 22-9-2010 by SaturnFX because: too much budweiser

That's why I mentioned "issues of legality". Network censors do check everything aired to make sure it complies with current laws. (For the record, I'm not a huge fan of censorship but understand why we've got it.)

In the specific example of ATS there is a finger to point regarding content, questionable or not, and the way that advertisers might take advantage of it. Here is a link that makes it clear...

NOW THAT commercial was nothing but death, destruction, chaos- minus the filth and greed.

Nothinglike the bud one IMO.

But I will agree, THAT vid is tasteless.

The one with the horses however, walking up to a park andbowing their heads in respect, not so much in my eyes.

What?

So, are you telling me that AB-InBev is not a foreign invested company, complete with ownership by a guy named Carlos Brito?

Dude, do your research.

no offense taken bro

It's just a difference of opinion.
One man's treasure is another man's trash.
Same goes here

And I don't mean to be confusing,
sorry.

I think that point has been beaten to death by now.

I dont necessarily blame the ops for thinking that...you would think that america would hold onto some brand names, but thats becoming less and less the case
hell, our flags are typically made in china or india..harley davidson is only assembled in America, but all the parts come from elsewhere
America is less and less a brand name contributor of the world...

America is now just a stamp verses actual manufacturing.

ur right, I did no research for this post.
I just saw the ad and thought I'd post it.
i did not look up to see who owned AB.

Some time back, I saw in the news where
foreign investors were interested in buying
out AB, but I thought that deal had fell through.
So I was assuming .... sorry for assuming.
But regardless of the fact of who owns AB,
IMO, the commercial was done in good taste.

I suppose that if the government told you that unicorns and rainbows were present on 9/11/01, that you'd believe it?

I don't like trolls and I don't like their trolling.

Maybe I am not getting the point of the thread you took me to?

What am Isupposed to be looking at that has to do with the advertisers of this site? Or am I not getting what you are referring to?

And all those yellow ribbons and miniature flags, not to mention, coins and figurines were done in good taste as well?

The ugly truth is that people profited off of this disaster and it wasn't limited to A-B/InBev. It's disgusting. They can swallow their coins and figurines and flags and bumper stickers. # them all!
