T-Mobile USA is being sued for cutting off a message service offering guidance to those seeking legal access to cannabis, despite the service purging itself of references to the evil weed.

The company concerned, EZ Texting, is now taking T-Mobile to court on the grounds that a network operator isn't allowed to make moral judgments on the content it carries. Even if it were, EZ Texting removed all traces of marijuana from its system before T-Mobile brought in the ban that's now destroying its business.

can't believe i think of ATS whenever i read a story like this (brainwashed). anyway... t-mobile decided to block text messages which basically helped medicinal marijuana users network with each other. can't see how or why t-mobile would try to get away with this, but then again i don't know my law/contract law. can any lawyers here shed light on what cell phone companies are allowed and not allowed to do? sounds pretty illegal on t-mobile's part if you ask me.

They have no right to block a legitimate text message purely because they don't happen to agree with the subject or content of the message.

People have a right to discuss what they wish to, provided it is in a legal framework. Morality bias is neither here nor there.

I'd be interested to learn whether or not T-Mobile USA, still took money for the texts, despite blocking them, and hence never intending to send what they are charging money for.

That's illegal. It's called fraudulently obtaining money. If they knew they were never going to send a particular text message, yet still charges a punter to send it, that's fraud.

I've a good idea..why don't all medical Cannabis users, switch mobile phone suppliers..much easier, and will keep the pompous T-Mobile executives wide awake at night thinking about all the money they'd be losing the company.

If the punters don't like it, vote with their feet and go elsewhere.
