I always found this argument funny. For people who are not gay, they sure speak with authority on the matter, knowing what causes it, and whats needed to "fix" it..

Enforcing a law like this would be no different than enforcing the honor thy mother or fater, bare false witness, or covet thy neighbors wife.

I also find it funny that we have a law for the seperation of church and state, and yet you have people in Government who are wanting to pass a law based on their own religious beliefs. I guess we can go on to add that these morally superior religous representiatives always seem to forget the parts in their religion that says dont judge unless ye be judged yourself.

The hypocrisy alone is just funny. Who gives a rats ass who does what in the privacy of their own home. Does it really affect people in the manner described? If you found out your neighbor is gay, chances are you would avoid that person. Would you move out of your house? Does their lifestyle affect yours? Does having them live next door bring down your property values?

The "owners" manual people pull this BS from is over 2000 years old. If you want to use the bible as a template, then please for the love of God use all of it, and quit picking and choosing the portions that best fit your argument.

And how will certain laws make you gay, you don't CHOOSE to be gay, you're born liking people of the same sex, or people of the opposite sex. If you yourself is gay but CHOOSE to be straight, that's all well and good, go out with that woman, and marry but see if you can get hard without you thinking of Tom Hanks' hairy ass, or using Viagra. So the guy shows his total dislike for homosexuals and you erroneously mistake it for "repressed homosexual feelings"? That has got to be the most idiotic thing I have ever seen written on ATS. How do you know that his intentions were to insult? It is impossible to know what someone; thinks, knows, believes or feels. It is just an assumption made by you.

I didn't compare heterosexuals and homosexuals to Nazis and Jews. I just gave a vague example of how disliking someone is not a repressed feeling for that something. Jus tlike Nazis hating Jews is not a repressed feeling for Jews.

It's not impossible to narrow down the intentions of someone by understanding the words they wrote and their intended purpose for the words. What other reason did he even have to make a comment towards the poster besides a type of ridicule? Not only did he suggest the member was homosexual, but he also suggested he was a pedophile. You took my words out of context. I was talking about trying to insult someone by suggesting they are what you are. Not a joke, but an insult. You don't see black people going around and insulting white people by calling them black. Maybe to joke, but not to seriously try to insult someone.

I used to do Thia Kick Boxing for many years and used to get into very up-close clinches with the men there. I was gay and i can tell you from fact that any thoughts of a sexual nature just weren't there.
If you have ever done a martial arts class you will know and understand how hard it is, not just physically but mentally. All your focus is on the class and what you are doing. You show respect and trust to those who you are fighting with, even to those you don't like or don't get on with outside the club.

I doubt that gay guy you met told you he was a perverted sicko, I just don't believe you on that.

I love your logical thinking, in that accepting gay people in society will end up making most straight people turn gay. I was surrounded by gay hating straight people whilst I was growing up, it didn't make me straight.

Sure more gay people will "come out" as it becomes less of a stigma but even if they did all come out, straight people will still be in the majority.

Raising a child in a world were homosexuality is "ok", were people speak highly of homosexuality, and see nothing wrong with it, increases the chances of the child growing up to be homosexual.

What that situation would do would is increase the chances of the child growing up to accept and be comfortable around homesexuality; not become homosexual. You cannot just become gay any more than you can just become a blond when you were born with black hair or become 7' tall when your genes programmed you for 6'.

Actually studies have been done that have shown in many cases homophobes are simply repressing sexual desires. In a landmark study done by Adams, Wright, & Lohr (1996), they found that homophobic men were much more likely to have an erectile response when shown homoerotic images than non-homophobic heterosexual men.
