I agree that this is notable due to the unprecedented? lack of ridicule given by the mainstream media. The reporting is matter of fact and to the point.

Nice catch!

I don't know. I know TONS of "ex-service" guys that are totally idiots. Having served doesn't make you a better human, trust me. In fact, most of the ex-service guys I know have below average powers of observation and reasoning. I know I will get spat upon for saying this, but it is my extensive experience that compels me to say this. One's position in life has little to nothing to do with one's ability to accurately deal with witnessing things that defy current logic.

Did I ever tell you about the time I almost got in a wreck with two astronauts (one who walked on the moon) because they didn't understand the basics of a 4-way stop sign?

So do I !

My farther was in the British Airforce during WII 1941- 52 near Dover, my cousin was stationed at Bentwaters 79-84, and I have a brother inlaw who is in the USAF (Florida).

They were all and are highy trained in thier service positions, well educated and down to earth .

Just makes me wonder who your hanging around with?

What's more interesting is that Reuters have covered it, and without any associated ridicule.

That makes a nice change.

How many times do we see news items full of cliches like "little green men" "flying saucers" "close encounter". Do they think they are being clever when they use terms like these? Normally, the mainstream media's coverage of the "UFO phenomena" is predictably pathetic.

I see this conference is due to be held at the National press club on 27th September 2010 at 12:30pm

I think someone should inform the National press club, because they appear to have lost their booking

National Press Club. Another chance for the media to learn a thing or two about the subject.

Hi Fox, I work for a national broadcaster and can confirm that when a report comes through from Reuters it is treated as serious. They are one of the most reliable news sources out there. The company I work for is probably the only source which is considered more reliable than them. Saying that, we haven't had a sniff of this.

There have been others there. Anyone can rent a room at that facility and groups often rent rooms there to add credibility. In reality, it's just a building where you can rent meeting rooms. No different than renting a meeting room at a Hotel.

Just a point of order really ...

Reuters is the number one most trusted, oldest and biggest Press association in the world. The bottom line is, if it doesn't make it through Reuters then the chances are, the story will be ignored by just about every other, mainstream, press association on this planet. If it appears on Reuters every politician in the world will have that story on their desk at some point, if it has any relevance to them.

That's not to say they haven't been scammed, made some boo boos of monumental proportions however, as it goes, the general consensus around the world is that. If Reuters carry it, it is of serious substance.

Yea, I know there have been others there.......the point I was making was, if you look at the calender, there is no booking made for this to take place at 12:30pm on the 27th Sept.........couple that with the fact that an earlier poster posted an article where funds were being requested to assist with the staging of this "conference"...it makes me wonder that if no funds have been raised, then this event is not even going to happen!

So this is my first post so sorry if it doesn't belong in this category; I just found it most fitting here because it's dealing with UFOS and such. I looked up to see if this topic had been mentioned before but it was really outdated and there was one account of one of the witnesses but now this stuff is actually getting real and questions will hopefully be answered.

I am also curious to see what information is released to the public about this and quite honestly, I am excited because for once, these people seem to be being taken seriously. Also intriguing because if they really pursue doing research on this... it's very interesting to wonder why aliens would be messing with our nuclear weapons... perhaps dismantling them is a sign that we shouldn't have them in the first place.

www.reuters.com...

maybe aliens know the US is trying to do something retarded like invade Iran and they want to prevent nuclear war..trying to protect us from our own stupidity

For those with an interest in the nuclear thing, i would suggest you try and track down a couple of books from the 1970s early 80s by a New Zealand guy called Bruce Cathie.. en.wikipedia.org...

I'm not going to give an opinion on the guys work but i do remember one incident clearly he was involved in. He has, over the years, been assigned very much to the lunatic fringe of science . That said, the French secret service arrived on his doorstep one day after he had published the likely date and time, almost to the second, of a nuclear test they were carrying out, *in secret* some days before it was due to take place.

There are capitals and punctuation marks on your keyboard.

Use them!

I would like to remind everybody that the topic is "Press Conference Next Monday: Unidentified Aerial Objects Compromising US Nuclear Weapons", not nuclear war, conventional war or how people write.

Please keep on discussing the topic.

Thanks.

Just to be accurate, this is not a "press conference" per se -- It's a National Press Club seminar or luncheon.

The National Press Club is a professional/social organization who often holds seminars and luncheons for their members -- Seminars in which they invite a speaker to talk about a particular subject. In this case, the club invited these former USAF personnel to discuss intrusions over nuclear facilities over the years.

This is akin to the American Dental Association inviting someone to a seminar to talk about -- oh, I don't know -- anything.

The National Press Club invites speakers of all kinds to speak at their club seminars. "Press Conference" is a term with a specific meaning (at least to me). It seems to be a misnomer in this case.
