piracy is just the scapegoat the MPAA the RIAA and others use to justify the high prices they charge for movies music etc. and just the scapegoat they use to claim they are losing money. We all know its BS but you know the sheeple believe just about anything these companies, and the government tell them.

Most pirates that download movies, games, applications, are tired of getting burned with crappy movies, and games so filled with bugs that they are unplayable. But when they do like what they download the majority of pirates will go out and buy a copy of what they have downloaded to support the movie industry, the game and app developers etc.

I do think 4Chan should take down something bigger though. Perhaps IMDB - just to show what they're capable of if pushed.

No way!! I check IMDB before I dl my movies! Killing IMDB would be way too counter-productive

It'd be better if they got the ion cannons firing at Fox...bring back fox-hunting.

Well done to the hackers. I have not bought a damn DVD or CD in 5 years. Never will. Piracy is the best option till they learn to lower their damn prices by 60% and stop paying these crap actors and singers so much money for nothing. *snip*

No one is in charge. They are Anonymous, they are Legion, they acknowledge no central command, they are all, and all are they.

A commander cannot lead what he can't even find.

Who creates the call to arms? Who decides the dates and times? I can understand mob rule happens, such as with puppy girl... we have a similar raction here on ATS, but there would appear to be at least an elite group who is adusting the flow as needed.

The flow is self-adjusting. One Anonymous says, somewhere, "hey, this might be a good idea". More Anonymous look at it, and decide for themselves if they think it would be a good idea. If so, it's on.

It might be Anonymous today making the callout, but tomorrow, it might be Anonymous instead, making a different callout.

Look at the replies in this thread, and see how many Anonymous you believe would have thought this to be a good thing...

There is a really funny video out there: "Leaked RIAA Training Video". It is on TPB at least, and propably some other places.
Anyway: It is targeted at DAs, and it is really funny to see how they change their tune, when talking to people who might know something about law. Their main selling point "Most pirates have other hobbies too, like Drug dealing, Pimping and Terroris...ting stuff. Just give us our warrant, and you might find something that is actually worth writing a warrant for"
Hilarious also when the RIAA guys explains counterfeiting:
"They don't need much stock, they just produce on demand" - How devious
Or when he points out that you can hardly tell the difference between factory produced CDs and those made at home with a printer. "while those machines in the factories cost millions of dollars" - Hello! I can't remember making you buy those!

A thief is a thief is a thief. People who steal always come up with justification. It does not change the fact they are common criminals. A person who will steal one thing will steal another.

I thought discussions of criminal activities were frowned upon here. Guess not?

A unique concept would be to get a job and earn what you want? But then it's the earning part that Pirates are really against. The rest are just excuses for bad behavior.

If Artists works are of no value, why do you risk fines and jail to steal worthless material? Truth is a bitch, ain't it
Wait a year until what you want hits the $3 bargain bin like the rest of us. If you get caught and it gets on your record, no job worth having will ever hire you. Those must be some really valuable movies to you folks to risk your whole future to watch a movie?

Oh good, that I am not a thief, and have never stolen a thing in my life (Unless you count those starwberrys when I was 6, and I honestly didn't know.)
Thing is, Blaine91555, what the Industry does, I can do better, for less money (distributing copies). I am absolutely not suprised that the industry doesn't like that. If i was in the business of making cars with square wheels, i would totally hate the guys who build them with round ones.
But what is it to you? Why do you object to me making a better product at a lower price? I am not forcing you to stop paying for broken CDs and DVDs (They are broken: They are full of advertisments, and take them to another continent and they won't work. Thats broken) but why do you object to me preferring working media?

Edit to add:
In that video I mentionend the word Thief isn't used a single time. Why? because it is targeted at DAs and they propably would know what theft is, and what isn't.
