Terrorism:

"The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons."

I'm suggesting Americans are conducting terrorists acts and similar deeds against other nations. - Prove me wrong.

FYI: America is also widly known in Asia and Middle east as "The Biggests Terrorists", "Self Proclaimed Wold Police", "Satan" and other interesting descriptions.

You may have heard the term Innocent until proven guilty, I don't think it's down to others to prove your opinion wrong, rather, for you to prove your statement is correct.

Provide some links to your evidence, I don't believe you'll have much of a problem finding some.

The U.S. was already convicted once of illegal use of force (terrorism) in the 1980s by the International Court of Justice due to U.S. actions in Nicaragua. The U.S. was fined, but rejected the authority of the court and that was that.

I am not going to court with this statement, However - My point is simple:

Americans call other countries and people "terrorists".

Americans and their allies kill people along with this statement. For a good cause of course, since they are dealing with "terrorists".

By this definition, anything seems justified. Even bombing and shooting at targets who have not even the slightest connection to having committed terrorist crimes.

Also do the Americans not provide "proof" that their targets are actually "terrorists" before they take action. Just "reliable sources".

Many innocent lives have been taken in this "revenge for justice"~~

And Iraq is only one example of where terrorist America exploit.

I wonder which target is next~

"Once a government resorts to terror against its own population to get what it wants, it must keep using terror against its own population to get what it wants. A government that terrorizes its own people can never stop. If such a government ever lets the fear subside and rational thought return to the populace, that government is finished." - Michael Rivero

I for one do not need evidence that the US is no less guilty of "Terrorist" behaviour.

There is plenty of evidence that proves the US has funded, trained and equipped numerous "Terrorist" organisations in the past, and are probably doing so right now, but only history will tell that tale.

Their "War on Terrorism" dictorial initiative has shown, very clearly, the hypocracy of the only super power on this planet. The US are now doing what the world feared the communists would do had the balance of power fallen in their favour.

In short the US are saying Conform or be wiped out.

The International Court of Justice has defined America as a terrorist, because of actions in Nicaragua, in fact it is the only country to my knowledge that has been judged as such.

There is ample proof as far as the world court is concerned . (The link is to the verdict handed down.)

So if the American Government is practicing terror measures to get what they want... And the general public in America (Majority) supports these actions... We actually have quite a few "terrorists minded" people living in America.

Why is that...?

Being a citizen of the United States I can tell you that the people here are not terrorist minded. They are simple minded. Our leaders and those in the military are the ones doing the dirty deeds and our media does an excellent job of keeping the simple minded masses vastly unaware. Though I don't know if its better to consider the citizens of the U.S. evil or stupid. Both are about as bad.

The actions taken and world reaction to what happened in Nicaragua and indeed just about every other U.S. military operation except for perhaps Vietnam has been forgotten by the public here. Out of sheer ignorance of reality or denial of it. The illegalities of Iraq will be forgotten here in the following decades as well given that the U.S. survives that long as a country in the face of other coming problems (oil, economy, global warming, etc).

Above all, America is hated because it is what every country wants to be -
rich, free, strong, open, optimistic. Not ground down by the past, or
religion, or some caste system

I think it may be because US leaders have constantly shown a disregard for human life outside of the United States. Even inside the US! The US has power, yes, the most of any in the world, and thus, they abuse that power to get whatever they want. Whoever stands in their way is set to be killed, imprisoned, or humiliated, that is, if they have any power of their own over the minds of the American people.

People don't hate because we have this power, they hate us because we don't know how to be responsible for it.

Arrogant pricks are what many Americans are.

Now don't feel insulted, I'm just talking about the majority, hehe

Riddle me this, o master of terrorism defined: When was the last US car bombing? The last time you saw a bunch of Americans kidnapping engineers, translators, or public service workers and having them beg for their lives on camera? The last time you saw Americans beheading people like cattle? The last time you heard of Americans flying airliners full of civillians into skyscrapers? The last time you saw a bunch of Americans wearing masks to hide their identities while threatening to kill anyone not of a certain religion or race? The last time a bunch of Americans entered a residential area and started killing everyone that wasn't of a certain religion?

I could go on, but I think you see where this is going. You lack the proof to back up your assertions, chinalurker.

We do of course have our own 'home grown' terrorists here, as well as anywhere. (Eco-terrorists, OKC, etc.) We fight against them here same as we do everywhere else.

Why must we fight terrorism elsewhere? Because the governing bodies of these areas are either unwilling or incapable of keeping things under control themselves, allowing (or even encouraging) these barbarians to threaten our lives. Not yours! Were China to be threatened in the same manner, they would respond in kind at very least, if not more. You know this is true.

Being "the" superpower makes the US wrong in one way or another from any given point of view. If we intercede in a given situation, we are called imperialists, world cops, etc. If we do not intercede, we are blasted for having so much power to help and doing nothing. No matter what side you are on, there is always a way to view the US as having done wrong no matter what action (or inaction) is taken.

Note that being called "great Satan" by a group of people who consider their first cousin to be grade-A marriage material is not that big a deal. If the concept of inbreeding is too difficult for a people to grasp, it is not wise to place too much value in their political opinions.

I'm sure you'll find many people here who will gladly join you in any gratuitous American-bashing you may decide to entertain. There is no shortage of Anti-Americanism on this site.

Don't forget the case of Michael Meiring from 2002. Meiring, a CIA agent, accidentally blew off his legs mishandling a bomb while in the Philipines apparently in an effort to incite terrorism. The FBI got him out of there and he has never been back to the Philipines to face criminal charges.

Well, I didn't find much arrogance there in your reply, you must belong to the minority

Actually, I don't really see why America "must" invade Iraq. America not even being afraid of China or Russia.... how come Iraq is such a big threat?

Or was it only as a revenge for 9/11...? Well that makes sense

Baby reasoning again: You hit me with a spoon, I hit you with a hammer.

As far as I'm informed... so far, more innocent Non-Americans have been killed than innocent Americans. That's justified of course, since we're actually saving the rest from their own "terrorists", as if they would still be terrorists against their own countrymen if the Americans were not there.

Some parts of the world are indeed less developed. So..? Do we have to bomb them, take their resources under control and infest our sad religions and practises on them because of this?

I guess Chinese are barbarians as well, cause it sure seems America would attack them if they were to claim Taiwan.

Chinese are "Communists" right. That's "Bad" too. I'm not Chinese, I just look through all the crap and provide my own opinion.

In my humble opinion, still... Americans are as much "terrorists" as the ones Americans claim to be terrorists. Just a whole lot bigger.

It's not necessarily Anti-American to critisize the US government, which is predominately what people are attacking when they refer to the US as terrorists.

Most people are fully aware of this, and are also aware that it is US foreign policy that has caused the sudden rise in terrorist activity throughout the world.

The term "Terrorists" is banded about without much thought by those who use it, both by many people on this site and the US and UK governments.

Terrorism has become a term for those who refuse to conform to Western standards, and do not have the funds and means to have open conflict with their oppressors.

The Middle Eastern terrorist of today, has yet to learn that few people will recognise their cause if they continue to inflict pain on innocent parties.

The IRA, learn't this lesson and changed their tactics to maximum damage/inconvenience with minimum casualties (if any).

The US has made even more enemies with their blatant non-conforming to both UN resolutions and the Geneva Convention. Choosing to opt out when the rules don't fall in their favour. And now adopting a pre-emptive policy on any considered threat, whether proven or not, the rest of the world is expected to take as gospel the reasons fed to us without question, "You're either with us or against us".

If only the world were that black or white, but there are a great many shades between black and white and if you take the time to look and listen you might actually see the world is has an infinite amount of colour.

Assuming the U.S. is engaged in "terrorism" (which, as a matter of opinion I disagree with), it certainly is no worse than any other country or group. The posts on this subject seem to have a tone that is anti-American. Why is America worse than any other country or "terrorist"?

Before someone responds that America is a worse "terrorist" than any other country or group because it has such great power, think a little before making such a claim. If many countries in the middle east had atomic weaponry for the last 50-60 years, Israel would have been blown up by now.

Great Britain, the Soviet Union, China, the U.S., India . . . all have shown great restraint even though all have committed terrorist acts in the past (using the supplied definition of "terrorism" - which I disagree with). The human race has not yet been blown out of existence. We're not as bad as some who would have had no problem using nuclear weapons at every and any turn.

There is a difference, a line the United States will not cross. We will not behead civilians on video and disseminate it for the world to see. If one cannot see the difference in U.S. "terrorism" versus other forms of "terrorism", cannot see that the U.S. is several gray shades lighter on the "black and white" scale I've seen someone mention, than that person had a problem differentiating between unlike things.
