Sometimes when I look at the world history, or the world as it is today, and when I see all the wars, terror I think by myself : ""What if the great world religions wouldn't excist ?, would the world be a better place then ?"

What if there wouldn't be a religion wich tell's you "Go to war with all those who don't believe ! "

What if there wouldn't be a religion wich tell's you "That woman is not a virgin, You cannot marry her, Kill her instead ! "

Would the world really be a better place without religion ?

Afcourse from reading this opening lines, you would probaly have figured out by now that I don't believe in some kind of allmighty God.... And don't get me wrong, but I really do respect all the people, no matter what religion, race, colour etc....

But if you think about it.... Let's face it :

God is created by man, not vica versa.....

Religion is created by man to control the mass......

So I would say; "No religion, no control of the masses anymore.. "

But somehow we all need a religion, somehow it feels good to meet like minded people, to talk about problems and other things you want to share.... But not with a God... We don't need God... To my point of view we are allready God.

So because we need some kind of religion, could the answer to all this be : Pantheism ?

A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science, might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths.
Sooner or later, such a religion will emerge.

Carl Sagan

Now with this thread I don't want to convert you all to pantheism.... Yes, I am a Pantheist and Yes I am proud to be one.... But the main question to you all is this :

Could the world be a better place with only one world religion ?

Pantheism is cool.

It's old school anyway.

People used to worship and respect nature and the earth and stars and so on...

Gaia

en.wikipedia.org...

People were happy to accept earth and nature as their master and "God".... or the highest level of respect there was anyway.

Until organised religion came along and ruined it all.

If I had any leanings at all it would be towards Daoism

Daoism The concept of the Dao is one of the best examples of a truly pantheistic belief. The Dao is the ultimate, ineffable principle, containing the entirety of the universe, yet also embodying nothingness as its nature. Further, it is a natural law and a system of self-regulating principles. Thus, the Dao, in its totality, represents the central unifying metaphysical and naturalistic principle pervading the entire universe. This allows belief in it to be classified as a form of naturalistic pantheism.

right on blupblup.

Pantheism is cool.

But we need no more religions.

If it is kept, and embraced simply as a philosophy, a way of life~
Then that would be great.

But the last thing we need is for anything to become another religion.

But I do feel if everyone embraced this,
we might actually have a good chance at true harmony, true coexistence.

Actually, I think this is the worlds biggest problem. This world needs more than ever something to believe in. Something to fight for.We need to bring back morals ,values, peace, love. Yes, we need more religion.Bigger than that,we need more people to diligently follow and practice there religious beliefs. With out God everything is meaningless.

I guess one could call me a pantheist. I believe not just that there is a supreme being in everything.. I believe that everything in existence, including time, in this universe is part of the supreme being... I believe in a sentient universe.

I don't know if everyone believing the same thing is the best route, though.. humans need to be challenged or they grow lazy and stagnant. It would be beneficial, though, if people learned how to say "yes, I am wrong" every now and then instead of "My God says [insert hateful thing here]"

I also take exception at the site linked in the OP...well not the site, really.. just the following paragraph:

Do you find it impossible to believe in supernatural beings, and difficult to conceive of anything more worthy of reverence than the beauty of Nature or the power of the Universe?

I find it rather easy to believe in beings that seem "supernatural", although by definition, if they exist, they are part of nature (by my definition of nature at least). I cannot bring myself to worship a being made of pur energy, benevolant or not,but I can appreciate them.

Yes, you do have a good point over here. On the one side, people should agree more with eachother because everybody believes the same. On the other side there would be no more challenges left, so that could also lead to other problems... hmm maybe the problem is bigger then I first thought.....lol. Still have to figure out a lot of things.

Oh I don't want any more religions... Religions, of the organised variety, are a cancer on society.
I am not remotely religious.... but as an Atheist, I love many of the Eastern philosophies and in particular, Taoism.

I'm with you though, no more religions.
Philosophy.... all good.

Religion is trash, all we need is REDEMPTION.

Religion is the most vile thing ever invented by satan and his demons.

It either leads to depression, or self-righteousness and pride.

Do You HATE Religion Too???

Interesting. I hate religion. Religion is what the Pharisees taught.

"Do this, do that, don't do that, then God will love you."

That's rubbish, I believe in redemption, meaning I do NOTHING whatsoever to merit God's love. He loves us all by sending His Son Jesus Christ to redeem us. I have NOTHING to offer Him, I have ZERO righteousness, and I can never do anything in the future to merit His favor.

I trust alone in what Jesus already accomplished, He is the hero of the story, most definitely not myself.

Religion is the most disgusting thing to ever cross the horizon of this planet.

I think maybe you are a little fuzzy as to what you are against. The definition of religion is simply (b (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural). why would you be against that? Perhaps maybe what you meant is organized religion. However, this to would seem to go against what you preach. Jesus himself was for the organization of his own ministry, was he not?

I have no problem with people who are not for religion, and like wise for it. My problem lies with those who place there own ideological twist with out any theological point of view. Opinions on the other hand are just that.

Wow, you're an expert on my personal faith? Interesting...

Click the link in my sig and learn the fundamental difference between "Redemption" and "Religion". I wholeheartedly embrace Redemption through Jesus Christ. I abhor Religion and it's subtle yet disgusting perversion on the atoning person and work of Jesus Christ.

Apples to oranges.

We definitely need a new religion.

Question is who creates this one?. What its goal? How it grow?.

I think any new religion should answer all the questions that other religion can not answer correctly and people believe in that concept.

Muslim religion works because there is always enemy.

Jewish religion works because it is always common enemy.

Hinduism is more of tribal racism mixed with some ideas.

Christianity is a good religion except jesus is a jew.

Buddhism is a good religion.

But all of them have a flaw. It is all belief. Nothing more.

You can say every thought is a some form of belief.

True.

So create your own religion.

Ask question, never agree or disagree

Say to yourself , I DO NOT EXIST!.

Nobody actually needs to have a religion. However, it is adviseable that people do use their judgement to develop their own set of beliefs about the way the world works.
