If you had the opprotunity or ability... What would be the one thing you could change in the world and what effect would you expect it to have on the world as a whole?

Please, only one thing.... And think short and long term effects.

My one thing: Abolishment of Religion. I believe the short term effect would be the vacuume of meaning in the life of the masses, however, I believe that soon, we will find our own beliefs and see that without religious fanatics, war and suppression would be greatly abolished.

Free energy that is clean, safe and abundant.....

Benefits, self sustainability, cleaner air, water and planet, better lives for the impoverished, new technology right out of SciFi, less wars and concentrated power, and allow folks to save some money perhaps.

The rule of law i lived by is..Complete freewill in thoughts. Simplistic moral logic and simplistic moral (Being the ten commandments.) love above free will in action.
Complete free will in entertainment, investigating on the internet, internet2/Virtual reality (Where you cant tell the difference between reality and the virtual world. venturebeat.com... as long as it does not "seriously" harm any beings in real.

basic income for everybody on the means of the country living in to guarantee a simple life with dignity.

no more starving

people can work for if they want as they do it now
they don.t need to earn the same amount of money as they do now
people get much more easily employed

people can also work in fields they never would have thought about before because they don.t have the pressure of earning money for their living

Every old-money family on Earth would suddenly and permanently forget the power that they've enjoyed over all of us for the last 500 years. And when I say they would forget, I mean that they would be incapable of understanding what it means to have the kind of entitlement and core expectation of prominence that comes with that kind of permanent wealth and power. Of course, the rest of the world would forget their inherited position of influence as well. Common billionaires would be at the top of the international food chain.

The old untouchable money would be appropriately reduced and tossed into play, forcing these people to be capable of maintaining the mere billions left to them (I'd be fair about it all) through good investment and actual effort. The entire world would be impacted by the removal of these people from the helm, and I, for one, would love to see how it all shakes out from there.

I'm going with this one ,I would change the events in Nikola Teslas life that led to him being suppressed and his patents stolen and hidden. If time travel ever happens and is good for something it would be this kind of thing , I see Thomas Edison being runover by a horseless carriage or maybe electrocuting himself by accident instead of that poor Elephant . Thomas Edison was a bad man and an Illuminati tool

Edison was also the guy who claimed that genius is 10% inspiration and 90% persperation. Well, maybe his version of genius is, but that's just because he was an idiot. I watched a documentary about the battle between him and Tesla over which form of electric power the US would officially embrace. If Edison had won out, we'd have power plants every 1/4 mile and the wiring coming into our homes would be as big around as a person's thigh.

They say that Edison didn't sleep much. I believe it.

Eliminate money (wow I said that) and have people just use the skills they obtained to perform on society for free.
examples:
If you are a doctor we need you for that but that doctor may need his house remodified and the guy doing it needs surgery. So the guy remodels the house for free and gets his surgery.
If you have legal skills then you can use you skills on someone who may need your support in return they owe you for the service and can have their family return the favor if they cannot.

Over time I think people will figure a way to continue educating themselves for free in various fields and keep the ball moving. So you wouldnt be without unless you were lazy. Those less fortunate and unhealthy mentally or physically will have full support of their communities because everyone will be working together as 1......

I mean if its an issue of who got the biggest house then think like this. IF YOUR HOUSE IS TOO BIG FOR YOU AND YOU FAMILY TO CLEAN AND YOU REQUIRE HIRED HELP THEN YOU MAY WANNA RECONSIDER
Nice thread S&F

And what would the short term and long term accomplishments be (or hope to accomplish)?

Organized Religion - in the long term there would be much less conflict among people therefore creating a more peaceful world. People would discover their own spirutality that lies in the hearts and souls of all people - they would discover their own personal journey instead of blindly following the flock.

Oh..only one thing?-

because...I'd change EVERYTHING!.

But if I have to pick only one thing in this world that needs urgent change is-
THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.

From that on, naturally other changes would come- like political- economical- societal- etc.
Thanks to the new "less ignorant and much more inquiring/creative minds" (that the "new educational system" humbely helped to OPEN- instead to shut down to possibilities -like the actual education we have now does-)- With the flag of THINK FOR YOURSELF- question everything, become an active participant in the creation of your reality)-

Yes, that would make the world start finally to upgrade itself into a new state of being. ;D

It's already been mentioned, but, Monetary Abolishment.

Short term....hmmmm, it would be pretty crazy.

Long term....Perfection.

Elimination of groupthink.

A corollary would be that everybody accepted the relative validity of all human opinion. People would be concerned with truth. Discussions of subjects would therefore not be in any way shape or form defensive. Nobody would be afraid of having his mind changed because there would be no social repercussions to admitting you were wrong.

This would have the added bonuses of destroying both organized religion and organized ideology. Really organized any-sort-of-idea.

Yay magic superpowers!
