A British teenager who sent an e-mail to the White House calling President Obama a "pr*ck" was banned from the U.S. for life, The Sun reported Monday. The FBI asked local cops to tell college student Luke Angel, 17, that his drunken insult was "unacceptable." Angel claims he fired off a single e-mail criticizing the U.S. government after seeing a television program about the 9/11 attacks. He said, "I don't remember exactly what I wrote as I was drunk. But I think I called Barack Obama a pr*ck. It was silly -- the sort of thing you do when you're a teenager and have had a few." Angel, of Bedford, in central England, said it was "a bit extreme" for the FBI to act. "The police came and took my picture and told me I was banned from America forever. I don't really care but my parents aren't very happy," he said.

So this is what we do now when we dont like what someone says about the president? I dont understand these kind of extreme reactions with everything going on in the world today.

There are people in this world that are far more of a threat to the POTUS and the US who arent banned from US entry.

This information has left me extremely confused on the priorities of the people in power.

We have illegal aliens coming into the US , who are actually breaking a law first off, and then committing crimes, but we cant do anything about that except sue the state thats enacting laws.....

So instead we waste manpower and resources to have the FBI and whoever else is involved to make sure this guy who called the POTUS a prick, cant come to the US?

Is this indicative of the things to come? You criticize the POTUS and you get outed? Perhaps thrown in jail if you are already here in the US?

The powers that be in Washington have lost their collective minds.......

thoughts, flames.......all are welcome!

Looks like the use of power has no limit any more no matter how over the top the use of power is.

So when does this all implode !

Well, this could be an interesting story, but unless there is some corroboration from other sources, It's difficult to believe at face value (as reported by) The Sun. Is this story running anywhere else and are there any other details?

If you threaten the President of the United States' safety or life that is a serious offense. The teen has admitted that he "doesn't remember" what he wrote because he was drunk. I am pretty sure he went beyond calling Obama a "pr**k."

An excerpt from the article in the Sun that you linked:

A Beds Police spokesman said: "The individual sent an email to the White House full of abusive and threatening language. We were informed by the Metropolitan Police and went to see him. He said, 'Oh dear, it was me'."

The local police in the young man's hometown also corroborated that the language was threatening.

Drunk or not, one should refrain from threatening the President of the United States.

Leave it to Fox News to use any excuse at all to slam the President and the party in power.

Funny thing is that this decision waa probably made by some low level bearuacrat, the POTUS likely never saw the email, and thousands of tax dollars in both countries were wasted making this "official"....

Assuming any of it is actually true.

Are you sure that this kid is not on ATS? I mean many seem to share his sentiments. He got off lightly and was really just a warning to the other idiots out there. Obama was probably unaware of the whole episode anyway.

After reading this article, all I can say is wow.
The president got an insulting email that called him a dirty name and now a person is banned for life from the US? Well now, I guess one could wonder as this door has been opened, when will they come and start rounding people up to hold them for questioning and criminal investigation, along with possible deportation from the US for such.
The President of the United States, is always going to recieve messages that are insulting, and it goes with the territory. Direct threats are one thing, but he and those who are responsible need to remind themselves of the old sayings: Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.
I am though curious as to what all was in the email that he recieved.

It implodes when we wake up. When we finally realise that we are all created as EQUALS. That no one man or woman has any power over us, unless we wish them to.
We are all created as sovereign beings, and no one controls me, no on dictates to me. No one rules me life, save me.
When will you wake up and realise this? Soon, I hope.

That's when it implodes.

So Name calling now can get you banned from the USA for life?

I guess the Nazi-Socialist Pri*k will have to ban all the Conservatives like myself.

Looks like the FBI will pay me a visit now .....

Hell Maybe I will just invite them over and talk about how the USA the Republic is dead and inquire if they intend to honor and keep their oath.

It says that he called the president a prick because of 9/11. Maybe they banned him for being to stupid to know that President Obama didn't get elected until 7 years after that sad day. Could just as well blame Harry Truman for Pearl Harbor.

If he said anything that could be interpreted as threatening then what exactly is the problem here? You're acting like he's some kind of victim, but he's the idiot in this case. If he was banned for only calling Obama a prick then that is extreme, but I doubt that is the only thing he wrote.

Imagine the day in court in the US when this kid is being tried for trying to enter the USA illegally. The charge is read out to the whole court "and 10 years ago the defendant called the president a p*^@k, your honour" or whatever they actually say. I'd sure like to hear that!

Hello,

As an English person I want to apologise for the actions of this individual, I can assure you that his thoughts are by no means representative of how English people think and feel about our American brothers and sisters.

I've just sent an e-mail to the Whitehouse asking for their forgiveness for the actions of this child and to reconsider the ban. I suggested that President Obama invite the family over and discuss directly why this individual felt strongly enough to e-mail such comments.

I wonder sometimes at the mentality of our youth!!

All the best,

Korg.

It was a matter of opinion on whether the e-mail was an insult or not. It is my opinion he told the truth.

President Bush stayed awashed in a constant barrage of derogatory comments from American citizens and citizens of foreign nations and nothing was said about these, in fact President Bush welcomed the criticism. Why? Because when someone is being critical of an action of another, the one beiong criticized needs to step back and scrutinize their actions, something that modern society fails to to because of their "high and mighty" attitudes.

Besides, there is a distinct difference between a threat and an insult. Something that this administration fails to recognize.
