It does make me wonder...

I believe the people do not want Charles as monarch for a variety of reasons. The primary one of course is that there are those who still believe him to be responsible for Diana's death. Of course if you believe the tabloids, even the Queen would prefer Charles not to take over.

William being the next in line does make for an interesting change because he is immensely popular. The Queen has long been seen as detached, aloof, and even irrelevant, and the Duke... well... he is who he is.

William could change the monarchy. That is certainly worth keeping an eye on.

Her Majesty can override the "succession" and name William heir to the throne after her. She could even step down and do it tomorrow, if she wishes. William is so much more popular than Charles and Camilla.

I wish both William and Kate all the best. It will be King William Wales sooner than you think :-)

I think not.
Succession to the crown is controlled by Parliament.
As far as I know, it is still governed by the Act of Settlement of 1701.
Succession to the British crown is not a popularity contest.

That is not true, what if her son was a bumbling idiot (oh that's right, he is!). The Queen can denounce anyone in her Kingdom, and she can name a Successor based on the "Needs of the Empire". Certainly Parliament has a role to play, but also as I mentioned above it is a "matter of Public Opinion". After all, this is the People's Kingdom, as she is only a figurehead and Parliament is elected by virtue of the Peoples Party in power.

So this possibility exists, Charles is not in-tune at all with the World, he is a "Buffoon".

Sorry, this is fantasy. Where are you getting your knowledge of British constitutional law?

I believe this falls under "Her Majesty's Prerogative". Just as it was when Diana was not eligible for a Royal Funerary, it was "granted".

Nothing in this World and nothing in the United Kingdom is free from change and fluctuations, variations, or manipulations. Take Charles' wedding to Camilla. He forced the acceptance of marriage by having it performed by Civil Union. To save face in light of the "Buffoon", it was sanctioned as "Royal" yet there was no Royal Wedding, so Camilla was given Title to the fact. It was only in 2005 that Lawmakers set in motion that if Charles becomes King then she will be known as Queen, so there lies the conundrum. What is fact, what is fiction, and what is possible?. At this point anything is possible it is only a matter of Public Opinion and of course a Royal Prerogative.

Need I continue with this? No, because you and I know that whatever they want to do they will do but first and foremost it is not Fated and it is not cast in Stone; as this is the People's Crown.

The MSM today are saying that the couple are getting married next summer and moving to Wales, what a lovely wedding present.

Not thats there anything remotely wrong with Wales. Also as a side note, Kate Middleton is the spitting image of the girl in the film paranormal activity, yknow the one who gets possessed by a demon and kills her old man. Which im sure is something that would never happen to any members of our royal family.

Well it will be a good date for him as he was born during a Solar Eclipse.

How much "magic" do you want?

I think Charles will make it to the throne.. he is a wingnut, but a wingnut that would stand up to Parliament.. a wingnut known for stating his views and questioning what other tell him.. I suspect he would even question the wars we are engaged in.. as wingnuts go, I think he'd bring sanity to the madhouse the is our Parliament.

The wedding is 2011 not 2012. So much for the title.

I just saw a news story that said he gave her Diana's sapphire ring. OMG, that is so sweet. I just hope the ceremony or at least part of it is televised in USA. I think they are a beautiful couple. and I wish them all the best.

Next summer, eh?...ah well it will offer the chance to forget where the kids next meal is coming from and whether going for 3 jobs I didnt want was enough to make sure they dont withold my benefits.

Recession, millions unemployed, students wondering where they will get the money to continue with their education and millions of kids starving world wide....oh, but its ok. His mummy says we arnt to worry, she will pay for it herself.

As you can see Im not a royalist. Id have them all working for a living instead of pretending they are the same as any other military man. They make me sick to the stomach, but nevermind there will be a fortune to be made selling wee union jacks to the elderly.
