Well i was sitting in my history class today and some idiot mentioned something about muslims being terrorists blah blah blah.(i live in a very redneck part of the country where people don't like it if your not like them) Well that made me think what if an American Muslim or infact anyone who isnt a Christian ran for president. Would You Vote For Them if they had good ideals and a plan to turn the country around and seemed like a good canidate or would you pass them off as a terrorists. I would vote for them if i agreed with their ideas, would you do the same? why or why not?

look forward to your responses-Chaseninja

Give it time and A Muslim would be elected President of the U.S. President Kennedy was a Catholic. While he was running his age was less controversial then his religion. President Obama being of mixed heritage and his skin color being Black would of been highly controversial when Blacks officially had a chance to run for public office. The list can go on and on. So In my knowledge I would vote for person if he or she was a Muslim. Religion should not be a burden of a politician.

Well you would probably anger some old conservative voter in my area if you dressed in Islamic dress. There actually a lot of Muslims in my area. They are very nice people and the women are beautiful.

If I was gonna be racist, I'd just say hey why not, vote for a Native American.

It's their land they might treat the job more seriously, idk.

But I really don't like to know people's religions in politics, separation of church and state. I usually don't wanna vote for people if they get all religious.

I don't think that religion has a place in politics whatsoever. Any candidate with strong beliefs will not be unbiased and fair. However the implementation of this is unlikely to happen anytime soon, but I don't think religion will be an influence on world politics in generations to come.

But it's not just religious affiliations that are concerning, what about feminism for example? Even a candidate's passion for motoring would affect their decisions on relevant legislation.

I know, it sounds impossible to implement. So until then, and to answer your question, whether they're Muslim, Christian, Hindu, hell even Thugee, as long as they're the best for the job, they'll get my vote. The lesser of two evils I suppose.

I would totally vote for a Muslim because I don't care about a person's religion as long as they separate that from the office they hold. Muslims have values and morals just like Christians do. Some Muslims believe it's okay to beat their wives because the Quar'ran says it's okay. Same goes for Christians and the bible.

If a candidate had a voting record that I could support or at least ideals that I agree with, of course I would vote for a Muslim. A person's religion has nothing to do with whether or not I would vote for them. Then again, I'm not religious so that COULD be the reason why it doesn't matter to me.

The religion of the person matters not to me. I would vote for a person regardless of religion if I liked their policies.

I find this statement kinda insulting and ironic at the same time.. perhaps it's just my personal experience, but I'd say over all political ideology doesn't really sway someones racist feelings.. but in all honesty, I've met more racist Liberals than Conservatives.. however, I would also say that Conservatives tend to be more "obviously" racist, while Liberals are far more subtle. Just my experience.

Kind of insulting and ironic? Are you trying to say I'm a racist? You don't even know who I am and yet you're already categorizing me!
