A friend of mine called me today. He was really upset because he went to get his meds renewed and was told that it will cost him double what he's
used to paying. His group insurance plan has not changed, and he was told that the pharmacist must have increased the cost of the meds he was
taking.
Now here's the situation, if he ends up paying for those meds at that price continuously, he'll go bankrupt because he's already in financial
difficulty. Yet if he stops taking the meds, it won't help his health.
I find this very unethical on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry to not even offer generic drugs for his condition. Considering the billions in
revenue that pharmaceutical companies make off of people like my friend, it leaves me to conclude that governments don't want cures to be found for
major illnesses because anyone with a conscience in power would never allow this type of unethical behaviour illustrated by pharmaceutical companies
to persist.
