Just put in my entry Masqua, and sent a U2U. Thanks for the advice regarding acceptable language. It was hard, but I think I made it work. (If not, someone will surely let me know!)

Here's a link (hope it works):

Finally decided to write something. I don't like it, but I never like my writings.

It is sloppy by my standards, but I am not a judge... so if you are a judge, kindly disregard this message

Good luck everyone!

Are we supposed to post the link to our thread here? Before the ATS changes, they used to front all the entries at the last moment ... but, we don't have a list that long anymore. Where is the list now with the new ATS changes?

My entry - www.abovetopsecret.com...

Edit: Never mind, I see they changed the Short Stories page back to the longer format like we used to have and that they are fronting the stories like they used too. Thanks!

Well... there's two full days left to enter a story into this contest, which I'll be formally closing sometime late Monday morning. For halloween, I'll be going to a concert and I honestly don't expect to be back home until around noon the next day.

Once closed, the judging panel will need a few days to weigh the entries, so please be patient while they decide. Usually, this takes about a week simply because mutual agreement on the creative arts is a difficult process at best.

If I've missed giving anyone writer status for their submissions, please send me a U2U or mention it in this thread.

Whaa. I miss ALL the contests (and how come you don't pay cash like SO does?!).

Just decided to write something for you today, first draft posted here.

Hope you like it.

Regretfully, I didn't finish my story but, luckily, it's one of those stories that doesn't necessarily have a Halloween theme so...I'll finish it and post it after the contest ends.

Good luck to everyone!! I'll go read more of your stories now.

Greetings and salutations.

Returned from Toronto late this morning and, like the Phoenix (which was the venue of the concert), I rise once again from the ashes of ringing eardrums to let those who posted their stories late know that they have been submitted into the contest.

But, as of this post, the opportunity has now passed and the time has come for the judging panel to do its thing.

Cheers.

(on a side note, the band from Austin, Texas psychedelically rocked the house and the one from Vancouver BC did not fail to impress)

Hope all the judges enjoy all the stories. A pretty wide-range of ideas, moods, and readings from the submissions.

Good luck everyone, and hope all the writers had fun. Thanks for sharing a piece of your imaginations!

Didn't see you around for a few days. Time to get up, have some hair of the hound, and get busy.
Glad you had a good time. I'm still reading stories.....or will later today. Some really good ones in there.

As has been the case in the past, the stories submitted are exceptional. Let's give the judges a bit of time... another day or two. I'm sure it'll get sorted by then.

Forget Halloween .... time to announce the New Years Writing Contest!!!!

What would be a good New Years theme? How about the theme - 'New' .
I like that. It's wide open!

Yes, I am ready for a new contest too! The holidays are upon us, including New Years, what a wide open contest that could be!

Once the judges are done and the winners announced, I'm thinking of a themed poetry contest. One which will be judged by the membership through starring. The contest will run two weeks, after which the poetry thread is closed. Then, I'll bump it during peak times for around a week so that people will see it and get a chance to star. The three with the most stars win.

We did this once before and it worked well.

After that, we'll do another Short Story contest.

Fair enough?

Sounds good to me. Poetry is more my strong suit than short stories

That sounds like a cool competition.

With all the talent on ATS, I believe some real jewels will present themselves!

Excellent. We'll do it then.

I've got some themes... we could do 'Winter' or 'Fall', Christmas or even 'The Firemans Ball'.

Then there's the type which make people bawl, like shooting poor Bambi or (gawd) shopping in a mall.

I could think of some more, for certain, with Star Troopers or Darth Vader kicking ass for us all.

But, I'd like your ideas too, because there's such good talent here, it should also be your call.
