A video, produced by astronomer Scott Manley, shows every asteroid discovered in orbit around the sun since 1980. It was created using data from the Asteroid Orbital Elements Database, an internationally recognised compendium of known asteroids and comets. The numbers in the lower left corner of the video indicate the year and number of asteroids as they were discovered over time, while the animation itself shows their locations in orbit.
