WHO are the Disinformationists ?

One of the things the CIA and other intelligence agencies have done is not only disinformation but management of information, such as setting up newspapers in hiring countries, hiring "journalists" and so on.

It is not such a great leap to imagine them doing the same thing with the Internet, such as buying websites and hiring people to write blogs, post on message boards and all that. It's not just the US that has been doing this, and attempts to manage information, propaganda and PR go back at least to World War I.

It looks a little too blatant and heavy handed when governments do this openly and directly, though.

In wartime, of course, militaries and intelligence agencies use deception and disinformation all the time against the enemy, to confuse the other side or to cover their own operations in a fog of doubt, confusion and deceit. We know they do this on the subject of UFOs, for example because they have been caught red-handed at it from time to time, usually to cover secret military projects.
