Army hero who lost a leg in Afghanistan denied a disabled parking permit by council bosses 'because he might get better'

www.dail ymail.co.uk

A hero soldier who lost a leg in Afghanistan has been denied a disabled parking badge three times by council bosses.

Lance Corporal Johno Lee has clocked up £800 in fines for parking in disabled bays in his home town of Newark, Nottinghamshire, on days when he uses a wheelchair or feels unable to walk very far.

When he first applied to Nottinghamshire County Council for a blue badge, he was advised he was young and 'may get better'.

Look at the guy..does anyone really think this guy will get better (his leg returned?). He is handicapped for life with an amputated leg. The council bosses have gone retarded, no other way around it. They are so blind in minting money they are overlooking a important factor that this guy is physically disabled. What the hell..stupid people.

Bureaucracy at its finest. This story proves just how redundant this system is. He's young it will get better? Its a lost leg.

However I do get what they are potentially getting at. His other leg that he has will get stronger and he will get better at having only one leg and using a prosthetic.

what they should be doing is giving him a temporary one and re-evaluating in a years time.

I suppose they mean better at getting around. I have a friend who lost a leg in Viet Nam and he really does not need a closer space to the front of anywhere. He is one of the most able people I know. Maybe they are saving the badges for the more disabled. I gotta be the devil's advocate here.

Yep! About right. (UKer's)Spend a day at your local shopping centre or supermarket car park and count the amount of seemingly ABLE people get out of a vehicle sporting a DISABLED sticker. Disgusting!

from the source link that the OP provides:
Director Mr Paul McKay said: 'We are looking into the matter and have arranged for a member of staff to meet Mr Lee to review the situation."

Here ya go Mr Paul McKay,
review this:

the kid is missing a leg. the kid lost that leg fighting a war to preserve your rights and liberties and your nation's interests, Mr Paul McKay.

the leg isn't going to grow back Mr. Paul McKay.

Mr. Paul McKay, sign a piece of paper for the kid, you friggin bloke!

Mr Paul McKay needs a handicapped sticker, operating a motor vehicle without a registerable iq. The council bosses are developmentally dysfunctionable, imo.

And while this story is shocking, the stupidity of this and most councils in the UK does not surprise me.

So the Council Services Director is arranging for someone to meet with hero. Paul McKay should get off his over paid behind and visit Mr Lee.

And what about all the promises made by the last Labour Government that we will support those who have served.

Paul McKay should resign as this council has failed. If you live in Newark, do us all a favour and hassle your council until this man resigns.
