I found this article in a Mexican Newspaper (El Universal).

It seems a group of Italians have been building a mini-city at the Yucatan peninsula to wait for 2012, for when the tough times come. They bought 816
hectares of forest and started building 22 big houses with 24 rooms each, prepared for fires, floods and climatic changes. The walls are 60cm thick
and could last forever. They have areas for agriculture, a lake, solar panels, etc.
All the area is enclosed with walls and security 24-7 so the media (or any intruders) can’t get inside, so they managed to fly over it with a
helicopter. (Photo on the source). The place is amazing!
The area of Xul was “selected” because in ancient Maya means “the end”, so they’ll just wait there for the end of times.
I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing with my brothers (without the luxuries) somewhere in the Andes, but the Italians have been busy since two
years ago. I bet they’re right on schedule. Its really amazing how they kept it almost secret and away from the media!
I just finished preparing my BOB, but…I have nowhere to go when SHTF! =(
Cheers
