As i am African American myself i noticed in the last few weeks something odd,That I never payed attention to until recently. We now have Obama as President of The United States.

But seems that in most movies(not all)when there is a Black president there is a problem where the world is on the brink of ceartin doom here is my list

1.Idiocracy is a 2006 satirical comedy film, directed by Mike Judge and starring Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph.

The film tells the story of two ordinary people who are taken into a top-secret military hibernation experiment that goes awry, and awaken 500 years in the future. They discover that the world has degenerated into a dystopia where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism run rampant and dysgenic pressure has resulted in a uniformly stupid human society devoid of individual responsibility or consequences
President Commacho(Terry Crews)"the dad from everybody hates chris"

2. 24" the Fox tv show with K.Sutherland"
Set 18 months after season 1, season 2 begins and ends at 8:00 AM in Los Angeles. Jack must stop a nuclear bomb from detonating in Los Angeles, then assist President David Palmer in proving who is responsible for the threat. This is necessary to avoid an unfounded war between the United States and three Middle Eastern countries.

Set 3 years after season 2, season 3 begins and ends at 1:00 PM in Los Angeles. While struggling with a heroin addiction, Jack must re-infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel in order to acquire a deadly virus being marketed underground. Meanwhile, President David Palmer is preparing for a live presidential debate in the run up to elections. Later, Jack and Palmer must co-operate with terrorist Stephen Saunders, who eventually gains possession of the virus, and then stop him from releasing it in several American cities.
President David Palmer(Dennis Haysbert)

3. 24"same show as #2(lol)"
season 6 begins and ends at 6:00 AM in Los Angeles. Jack is released after being detained in a Chinese prison for twenty months. Terrorists plot to set off suitcase nuclear devices in the United States and Jack must stop them. Later, Jack has to choose between his loved ones and national security when the Chinese set their sights on sensitive circuitry that could trigger a war between the U.S. and Russia.
President Wayne Palmer(D.B.Woodside)

4.The 5th Element
The Fifth Element is a 1997 science fiction film directed by Luc Besson starring Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, Milla Jovovich, Ian Holm, and Chris Tucker. Mostly set during the twenty-third century, the film's central plot involves the survival of humanity which becomes the duty of a taxicab driver (and former special forces major) named Korben Dallas (Willis) when a young woman (Jovovich) falls into his taxicab. Upon learning of her significance, Korben must join efforts with the girl and a priest (Holm) to recover four mystical stones which are key to defending Earth from an impending attack of pure evil and destruction.
President Lindberg (Tommy 'Tiny' Lister)Deebo from the movie friday

5.Deep Impact
Deep Impact is a 1998 science-fiction disaster-drama film released by Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks in the United States on May 8, 1998. It was directed by Mimi Leder and stars Elijah Wood, Téa Leoni, Morgan Freeman and Robert Duvall. The plot describes the attempts to prepare for and destroy a 7-mile wide comet, which is expected to collide with the Earth and cause a mass extinction.
President Beck (Morgan Freeman)

6.2012
In 2009, Dr. Adrian Helmsley, an American geologist, visits astrophysicist Dr. Satnam Tsurutani in India and learns that neutrinos from a massive solar flare are causing the temperature of the Earth's core to increase rapidly. Adrian informs White House Chief of Staff Carl Anheuser and United States President Thomas Wilson that this will trigger a catastrophic chain of natural disasters. In 2010, Wilson, along with other international leaders, begins a massive, secret project intended to ensure humanity's survival. Approximately 400,000 people are chosen to board ships called "arks" that are constructed at Cho Ming, Tibet in the Himalayas. Additional funding for the project is raised by selling tickets to the private sector for €1 billion per person. By 2011, they start secretly moving humanity's valuable treasures to the Himalayas under the guise of protecting them from terrorist attacks.
Danny Glover as Thomas Wilson, the President of the United States

Ok now I'M just saying with all these movies most of them have a scenario that has a small chance of happening,Dont you think its odd that Obama is now the President and his term is up in YOU GOT IT 2012

So what do you guys think enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

No hate involved i was just trying to point a similarity to these movies and Obama being the current president. It has allways been a thought in my mind that if the world was beyond saving they would elect a black or another minority due to lack of intrest.

please it was just a similarity comparision,NO HATE INVOLVED

Nice one... Now I`ve heard of the Hollywood cliche where "the black guy always dies 1st". Never heard of the one that says "the world always ends whenever the president is black" though... Haha I ALWAYS tell people about Idiocracy... that`s where we are goin! Maybe it`s just the white man`s scheme to try to make all the people think that: OK, now this is what will happen to us if you elect a black president. You don`t want that do you? Ok so then keep voting white! The fate of the Earth depends on it, did you think we LIKED bein racist and enslavin those poor people? NO... we were selflessly doing what we had to...Haha wow... Obama`s only half white though so that doesn`t really count... Still, good eye!

I am of the opinion that most of the movies you selected to make your point, were in fact futuristic science fiction. One tool they use to help you believe it is the future in such films is to install a president of color to symbolise how advanced our species has become.

To say it simply, I think you are reading into something that is not there.

~Respectfully,

I don't know how you guys can just not see the similarities in these films! i guess it's another cliche in films for black americans hahaha. I could see this going into a black comedian's stand-up act XD. I'm a minority myself so i guess i don't have to pretend that i do not see it in fear of being labeled a racist.

The definition of racism has changed over the decades. Nowadays, if you say something politically incorrect by accident, you're labeled a racist. i think racism is based on the intention.

After reading this post, and before the magic of google, I am trying to remember any sci-fi movie where the president, black or white, was not dealing with some apocolypse style event.

I think they just use the president in sci fi films to show how deep the shtf...

the difference between many movies and the ones you mentioned was that your list = good movies.

Morgan Freeman for President (but watch the skys)

--after a bit of google magic--

Mars Attacks - white president
Independence Day - white president
Air Force One - White

just some...theres a endless list of fictional presidents on the wiki from film, book, and video game.

I will say that black men are typecast into a presidental role from what I see overall though, white men have a variation of plotlines, from apocolypse, to just inhouse drama (dave, American President).

I think it is a hidden message against racism though...see a black president, but who cares, the worlds about to end, get some perspective kinda thing for the directors.

Also, with the exception of Camacho, the black presidents tend to be overly perfect characters...(but relatively, Camacho was the best of a bad lot)...so, obviously they are trying to do some subtle reverse programming...make them more acceptable as a movie president by making them unrealistically perfect for the job.

good post OP

Something two movies to add to you have already... "The Man" and "Head of State"

The Man is a 1972 James Earl Jones plays Douglass Dilman, the President pro tempore of the United States Senate, who succeeds to the presidency through a series of unforeseeable events, thereby becoming the first African American president.

Head of State - Chris Rock becomes the president through a series of unforeseeable events - his party's original presidential and vice-presidential nominees die in a plane crash; their two separate planes crashed into each other.

So we have 8 films with black presidents. The two films about share a similar plot line where a black man becomes president through strange circumstances. We have 2 black presidents on the show 24... two movies that take in the future (5th element and idocracy) and two movies where the world was about to end, but didn't... there was major destruction but life went on.

Is it all connected? Probably not.. but who knows... if anything it's an interesting topic to discuss. I think most of us here can agree that Hollywood movies contain a lot of illuminati symbols and metaphors...

I think I see the point you are trying to make but almost all the movies you listed were made while Obama was either still smoking pot with his buddy Ray or organizing communities.
Even the most recent movie you list here was probably still in pre prouction before Obama took office.

What about movie(s) where the world is saved by a black man?

Notice how all the OP's listed films/shows are from the 90s - my point is that it just, in this case, shows that the "near future" of the writers' imagination allowed for the possibility of a black President.

OP, I like the way you swing your jib, but I have to say this is off base to me.

Here's why:

Hollywood is notoriously liberal. They notoriously try to push us forward as far as the liberal agenda is concerned, whether it be right or wrong. In this case, a president of color (or a female president at that) was a push in the right direction. They were conditioning us to accept it. Since many Americans are kinda dumb (which is what makes Idiocracy so scary although I am not of the opinion it was a good movie) they are really influenced by this stuff.

Also, I am among the others that think you did, whether intentionally or not, cherry pick movies/tv shows. I know you were trying to make your point, but a few cases do not make it the norm.

I don't think the OP has too much of a point. If there is a point it's that the powers that be planned to have a black president in the white house for 2012. If that's the point, that plan stretches back much further than the 1990s.

There aren't many more movies to reference. The wiki link below has a complete listing of black presidents portrayed in TV and film.. I think we have all the films listed except for a 1933 movie called Rufus Jones for president. Sammy Davis Jr played the president. The link says it was a comedy short.. the other TV listings are the Richard Pryer show and the Eddie Murphy show.

en.wikipedia.org...(United_States)

So anyway, it's just something to wonder about. Also, don't forget that Obama is only half African. Maybe there will be another African American candidate for president in 2012...? maybe a republican like Michael Steele ... ?? just more thoughts I had since my last post :-)
