I think there needs to be a thread where ATS members can put all the known Israeli products, that way we can be away and stay away from them, we as people can make a difference.

Who's gonna win this race to create that thread

I'm gonna do my part, that means every Israeli product, hopefully they don't make a life saving treatment for a new disease they invented, that would suck too much.

The boycotts are working, are they?

Well, let's take a look at the facts.

It is true that the almost complete apartheid system and economic blockade put in place by the Arab League against Israel (member of the United Nations) since its foundation has caused the nation problems in trade and economic development.

Most countries' main trade is with its local neighbors, of course excluded in the case of Israel, who has had to rely on a global trade.

Israel's economic growth was actually kind of unstable up until the 1980's, but in spite of intifadas, a couple of wars and a deteriorating global image in the last three decades, economic growth and power has been steady and impressive since.

Israel's GDP, after contracting slightly in 2001 and 2002 due to the Palestinian conflict and troubles in the high-technology sector, grew about 5% per year from 2004-07. The global financial crisis of 2008-09 spurred a brief recession in Israel, but the country entered the crisis with solid fundamentals - following years of prudent fiscal policy and a series of liberalizing reforms - and a resilient banking sector, and the economy has shown signs of an early recovery. Following GDP growth of 4% in 2008, Israel's GDP grew by 0.5% in 2009 and is expected to expand in 2010.

www.cia.gov...

So economically, the existing boycott is not causing any greater woes, considering the fact that Israel is still not recognized diplomatically and therefore economically boycotted by 36 countries, almost all Musliim, and roughly a billion people on this planet.

I suppose you're referring to smaller, local boycotts.

Personally I live in France, the country in Europe with the largest Muslim community, and strong anti-zionist and anti-semitic influences.

I also happen to live two blocks away from the country's most radical Mosque, with a large Muslim community gathered around it. The supermarkets in this area all sell numerous Israeli fruits and vegetables, and since it's custom to advertise the origin of the products, their origin is marked for everyone to see. I'd say 5% to 10% of their stock is imported from Israel and that doesn't seem to go up or down.

So is the boycott working? I didn't even notice there was one.

Mind you, I've been trying to boycott Chinese products for years, it's very hard since half or more of all consumer products seem to be produced over there. You check a product and the box says "made in Vietnam". When you come home and open it, the product itself says "Made in China".

There's a big chance that the computer you're writing on contains Israeli (zionist!!!) made electronic parts, in all fairness to your political and ideological stand, you should chuck it out of the window!

The free market - or your freedom to shop where you like and what you like - was never in question.

The accuracy of the article in this thread was.

Boycotts are working: "Damage to Israeli Companies Exacts a Heavy Price"

www.thetruthseeker.co.uk

This is another news item which will doubtless not appear in the Zionist controlled MSM.

Snippet:

The following article originally appeared in Hebrew on the Ynet website on August 25, 2010. It was translated by Dena Shunra.

It’s not only Norway: Israeli companies are boycotted by many countries for political reasons. Glass factory owner: the boycott has caused me enormous damage.

Yesterday’s decision by the Norwegian Oil Foundation to remove its investments from Africa-Israel and from Denia-Seabus, claiming that they are involved in illegal construction in the Territories is only the last of a long and growing line of decisions taken by governmental and private companies in Euro

Not everyone is against Israel. Some of us support that side, and not the PC anti-Israel attitude. I am Norwegian and I live in Norway...

I support Israel over Palestine any day. Personal opinion.

I think that the number of supporters of Israel is not reflected in this thread. The Israel bashing threads get old after a time. There is nothing here worth commenting on. You won't change the mind of the anti-Israel crowd so other than picking away at the credibility of the article there's not much one can say in a thread like this one.

Does the support have to be actual positive steps or will tacit support do, must be a stack of research you've given yourself to do, well done in your efforts but wouldn't a direct donation be easier and give you more access to products from co's not really taking a side in the issue.

Personally, I like to buy both Israeli (jewish) and Israeli (Palestinian) products.

Israeli avacados with Palestinian olive oil, yum!

the thread opener is going to protest to local markets for selling israeli products?

everyone has the right to boycott those products as much as anyone has the right to buy and support them.
basically by protesting you want to take away my right to buy israeli products from my local stores.

israel bashers are just pathetic, not to mention ignorant.

Long Live Israel.
Shalom.

Did you know that Starbucks forwards part of its revenue to Israel as well? Everytime you buy a latte, you're putting a bullet in the IDF's rifles or funding israeli settlements in palestinian land.

Something to think about the next time you're ordering a caramel macchiato.

[edit on 26-8-2010 by RadioKnecht]

Your right, but unfortunatley any time I pass one they are usually full of customers. I don't think many people know this.

Personally I avoid Starbucks like the plaugue and take great delight in telling anyone who's interested why.

wow, if ever I saw a paired bonding reverse psychology video... that was a masterpiece.

It is not Israel that is to be boycotted, it is NOT THE JEWS that are to be 'punished'. There is an illegal Zionist occupation in Israel right now, it came from Russia thousands of years ago. Research Khazar. They used espionage to take over the country. Authentic Jews are an amazing amazing group of people... but the problem is they are being suppressed by people pretending to be jews. They need freed.

Important to note, most authentic Jews converted to Islam... and now those very same original jews are in concentration camps in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

We are not boycotting Israel to hurt the Jews in any way shape or form, we are boycotting the Zionists that pretend to be the Jews that have taken over Israel and made it into a terrorist state.

Long live the Jewish people.
