An old friend on FB posted these pics the other week, and no one seems to have an answer as to the species of it...Figured it was time to put it thru
the ATS gauntlet, and let the crypto folks gimme the answer! Thanks in advance!
I think you guys are are prolly hitting it with the cat theory...Did some googlin' on minks, and I don't think thats a match (minks have a very
tubular, elongated skull, eyes set to sides, not above nose as in this).
Please anyone feel free to share if you have other theories or want to elaborate on the cats idea!
What gets me is the eyebrow whiskers...that has to be a fairly unique identifier for species.
Looks like a freshwater otter, to me. We have some huge ones in our lake. I think that they have those eyebrow whiskers, also. Really cute and funnt
to watch, but have serious teeth. It kinda reminds me of a mink, though, too.
But since I have been wasting my morning chasing this thing's tail, here's some other candidates from the FL area as well...
Jaguarundi en.wikipedia.org...
Bobcat en.wikipedia.org...
Skunk, but you'd thin the stripe would be seen en.wikipedia.org...
Thanks Jennybee, I was looking at those two as well, but didn't think they were a good enuf fit. Ears on this specimen seem to large to be a match,
but who knows, you might be right!
