You want that heavy flow of melatonin / seratonin!! So its best when waking from a nap or a long sleep where you wake up and your mind is a random mess.

They sell it in the drugstore for jetlag, and its an antioxidant, is a really good supplement, but it puts me to sleep. Still would it be useful?
I've tried it. It just made me sleepy too, and only temporarily, and I got the extra strength stuff. I find there is no best substitute to just plain ol' meditation the day before, and maybe then, even consistently for a while. Again also with anything intention plays a factor, your subconscious focus, if the dream world reflects subconscious thoughts and symbols, well.. there you go. I haven't been astral projecting in a long time now because I have no desire to even bother. These days I'm just focused on getting a good sleep. Very material these days.
Pretty much anything that engages your brain on different levels and gets you imagining and throwing that 3rd eye on pretty much helps make the dream time vivid I find. So again, meditating on / stimulating the 3rd eye seems good for encouraging that kind of experience to come forward.
Also, vitamin C, I've heard its best to take a few grams before bed, is this a good idea for either lucid dreaming or astral projection?
I have no idea. I've read and experimented with vitamin C, and how it helps with iron absorption. And the iron carries the oxygen, in the blood to the body.. so I would consider this a chi thing or natural body energy thing. So just as nutrition helps your body energy, again so do certain kinds of meditation with emphasis on body energy. I've had a very powerful astral experience the night after I did some "bone breathing"..energy amplifying and condensing.. I do think energy is required, chi or body energy, or maybe the etheric energy, or its one in the same, i try not to separate things, its all the same concept to me.. but yes.. i've noted when astral projections have drained me so I would say it requires an energy of some kind.
Also, if its just an energy/chi body, what is the big deal with the chord? I actually think that there may be different degrees or levels of astral projection?
Well.. I think experiences are limited only to the imagination of the universe.. so I have no doubt and would hope there are other levels. The astral is so strange and different feeling each time that I don't see the point in trying to put it in a structure like that but i'm sure some people who are more adept to the different levels find different uses in them. The cord. I don't know man. I've talked to a guy about that who is constantly astral traveling, he doesn't see it either. We both kind of think it could be some fear mechanism.. people so afraid of death that even in another realm of consciousness they tether themselves so they can go explore without being afraid. Kind of like tieing a rope around yourself and then going to explore a cave or something. Just a theory. I have never seen the cord but I do feel i've had some experiences you could define as an astral projection or something of that nature, like a lucid dream but more defined and contained in an area and relies on body energy.
Also listening to delta waves could help?
If you find out if it does, let me know, i'd be interested.
Phasing is simply travelling where you want to go in the astral or afterlife planes (or this plane, for that matter) by using your mind.
I usually activate my third eye (between my brows) just by focusing on it. Just thinking about the third eye area causes it to kind of “vibrate” or tingle and you know it is up and running, ready for use. I visualize a blue light tunnel whirling round and round like the tunnel Jodie Foster saw in Contact, very similar. This tunnel seems always to be there, ready for action, even long before I knew anything about metaphysical things or anything about astral travel. I wonder if this area, when it begins to tingle and respond, is actually part of the astral body at that point, which would explain why it connects us to the astral plane so readily.....
