I think the physicist was just trying to get his point across in an easily understandable way

what i got from it is gravity does not exist as a force, what we call gravity is not actually a force but rather the effect of some other force.

so when he says gravity doesnt exist i dont think he means falling doesnt exist, but rather what we call gravity doesnt exist as we think it does

I hope that makes sense

Let's suppose for example that some scientist discovered GUT today(hypothetical situation). And he or she created elaborate equations to describe the whole universe. What do you think the equations will be for gravity derived from those equations? Same or different? Saying that gravity doesn't exist is saying that the equations for "gravity" derived from GUT will fail or will not match that of Newton's equations.

All im saying is maybe he could of worded it better, but i certainly dont think hes saying that gravity will fail etc etc

as i said in my previous post i think he was just trying to 'dumb' it down a bit, and i certainly got what he meant...i think

you hit it ...magnetism.
and we have an electric universe...the sun might not be fusion powered

Actually the term "force" is just a term that we observe.

Like so F = ma. The force is just something we observe when a mass accelerates. If we want to nitpick, then I would say that the 4 fundamental forces don't exist.

well your obviously more knowledgable than me so it would be foolhardy for me to continue

LOL okay. I'm just saying. It's more directed at the OP and that so called physicist. Actually I have read some of the paper linked by the OP and nowhere does it says that gravity doesn't exist.

When ive done my astrophysics degree in 6 years time we shall continue

but yeah i dont think any scientist would openly say and mean gravity does not exist..coz that would be very silly and i dont think anybody would entertain that notion

Falling doesn't exist.... When you think you are falling, what actually is happening is everythingelse is just rushing upwards to meet you.

So you have done and understood General Relativity?

What I think is that the OP added "Gravity does not exist" to the topic.

I can kinda see what he meant but that is nothing new. I doubt that is what the physicist mean. Physicists have long struggled to discover GUT to describe the four fundamental forces of nature. It is akin to Einstein discovering higher equations or reality than Newton's equations (classical mechanics) to better describe what we observe. They have unified some forces of nature but not all of them. Imagine a higher theory that not only unify the four forces of nature but everything else as well.

This is why I said it is of my opinion that mathematics is the way to go.

LOL. Well I have seen some posts that claim that

It might have some merit. Even Einstein thought that himself.

The short story of gravity seems to be "like attract like". Hence if you are in this environment you have interrelationships to all other particles around you.

Hence, to be able to levitate one needs to transform one´s body into another type of matter, a matter who is more microcosmic than the other particles down here. To be able to do that like Jesus and others have, one must reach high levels of self-cultivation.

Here's a short video of Garret Lisi en.wikipedia.org... explaining his vision of a unified field theory.

I was really enjoying the article, or at least until I saw the name of Li Hongzhi. I've joined the Falun Gong for "cultivation" many times in the past. It is a nice way to unwind from the stress of the day, but no one is going to become invisible, levitate, time travel or change the weather with it. That is why I can so easily dismiss any claims from this group.

I support the Falun Gong in their fight against oppressive totalitarianism, but that is where I must draw the line.

I believe you guys need to look into the work of Miles Mathis if you have not already. He does a very good critique of Erik Verlinde's theory.

Well, if you joined FG many times on and off for some exercises I suppose you are not a real cultivator and never were.

As we all know it takes a long time of arduous effort to cultivate up for a person with average inborn quality. Eliminate karma and all sorts of desires and emotions along with attachments is not easy to get rid of.

In case one has very good inborn quality it happens very fast, I have seen such a case unfold in a few months with all sorts of supernormal abilities coming out.

Just because you do not believe in it, it does not mean it does not exist. It has got to do with your enlightenment quality.

Could you turn invisible for me? Or do you know someone who can? Mr. Li couldn't when asked.

Edit to add: I am an ardent practitioner of Buddhism, and have been for more than 30 years. I have above average control of my thoughts. I also have average common sense, which leads to my innate skepticism of outlandish claims.

I still routinely write letters to my elected representatives expressing my concern for the treatment which the PRC imposes on the followers of Falun Dafa. I respect everyones right to a religion of their choice, but reserve the right to remain skeptical.

No I can not turn invisible but I am sure there are many cultivators who can. It is not allowed to show off such things as becoming invisible, therefore nobody will show it to you when you ask. Zhuan Falun is very clear on these matters. If everyone had seen these things everyone, including the most evil people, would come to cultivate and human society would not be a human society anymore. During FD cultivation I have seen many supernormal things and I know a kid who can do things everyday people can not dream of.

I remain sceptical to your claims about coming to cultivate FD many times. Cultivation in FD is a process which takes many years to do and one can not try a little here and there. It is also said in Zhuan Falun that if you mix many schools you will receive nothing from anyone.

Let's refer the question to the nerds in "The Big Bang" - I am sure they would sort it out - especially that know-all Lesley (and Sheldon of course) - not Penny tho.

Gravity is talked about a lot on the Flat Earth Society... apparently a study was conducted at some point in time that (I can't remember and I searched but couldn't find it) tried to determine the speed of the earth as it's moving through space... and the result turned out to be 0 mph. So they believe that the earth is ascending, and that explains gravity.

Everything that falls, falls at the same speed no matter how big or how heavy it is. That alone should be evidence that it is not a force itself but an effect of a force.
