Anyone who downloaded the insurance file, I IMO feel it may be wise to store that file on a separate storage device away from my computer, just in case they have something up their sleeves to corrupt the file where its kept.

Just plain incredible how this news is spreading around the world!

Assange must represent really a serious threat to them.

Some days ago I posted here on ATS saying how italian mainstream media never talks about Wikileaks and today,: TAH-DAH! "Julian Assange accused of raping two women". Imagine that ALL our TV channels and on-line papers are reporting this news, at the same time!

I too hope to see that encryption key ASAP but I think this is a strategy to force him to shut down and go away.

Simply INSANE!

Well, well, what a fortunate coincidence for the cess-pit vipers. Not!

They killed Christopher Story - but given the high profile of Assange, at the moment it would be too obvious if he were to have an 'accident', so now this - same old, same old strategy.

These bullies and assassins are the stench-ridden dregs of society. It is insane that they should even be in charge of a toilet, let alone a country.

One single report from a tabloid newspaper does not a conspiracy make.

Anyway, if this were a concerted effort to defame him, why would they do it in Sweden of all places? Wouldn't they be better off doing it in his native Australia?

I agree with the majority of replies so far: character assassination in progress on Mr. Assange. He was probably warned to close the site and stop the leaks or face the consequences. Not sure what "warning notch" he is at but there seems to be a campaign to demonise him and Wikileaks as a whole.

Actually, I had wondered about the MSM's coverage of Wikileaks in recent months - but now it could well be explained by the fact that they first wanted to make him known, then hit him with a huge slur on his character.

There are also many rumours about him colluding with the FBI.

Assange is a real threat to the Vipers, which means there is stuff they are really afraid will be made public.

I wish more could be done to protect him, but I have resolved to send him protective light, as the only thing I can conceivably do to help him. I have faith in positive energy transmission, so hope it will help even a tiny bit.

Without evidence there can be no case. Some kind of dna from him. Skin cells, sperm, something. It just saddens me though that there are actually people that will see this and believe it and then they will condemn anyone that supports Wikileaks.

You can bet your last shilling that the second that file hit the net, these guys have devoted every cpu cycle of their vast super-computer network to cracking the encryption.

They'd be negligent if they didn't.

And don't forget, the latest computing hardware we have at our disposal, is AT LEAST 30 years behind what they have at theirs.

A network of quantum computers would probably crack this file in a month or less. If we tried to crack it, it would take hundreds, if not thousands of years of brute force attempts.

No, i think it's fair to assume they know what's in the file, they wouldn't be making a move against him, if they didn't think they could 'weather the storm' of the files' release. I seriously doubt they would risk the gob-smackingly, predictable smear campaign without knowing.

There are quite a few possible motivations of rape.

Some of the most powerful men have committed rape, not because they couldn't find a woman to "surrender" to them (surrender?), but because they enjoyed the power, control, and sadism.

Obvious attempt is obvious, they really must think we are stupid to pull this kind of stuff.

Hoping the S will hit the F when that insurance password gets released. I'm guessing Assange will be sentenced to prison and somehow end up killed by a "fellow prisoner". I hope he makes it out of this alright but my gut tells me that TPTB will take this fabricated rape story and run with it as far as they can.

Let's be honest though TS, how hard would it be to obtain a DNA sample and plant it?

Doesn't have to be semen, they could harvest enough DNA from the oil in a fingerprint these days, multiply it in a lab, and plant it.

All they have to do is collect a cup, a glass, a ciggy butt, a comb, even have folks collecting his turd from his sewer pipe would be plenty.

This is not theory, or a maybe...it is now possible to collect absolutely minute samples of DNA and replicate then in a lab. That can then be inserted (planted) into anything or anyone they wanted.

Advances in genetics is a double edged sword.

I suppose if you cannot trust so called DNA 'evidence', which these days, where the involvement of the security services (alphabet agencies) is guaranteed, we obviously cannot, the only thing we can do, is use our common sense.

The US government/military wants Assange...they are furious about the leaks of the Iraq massacre video, and the Afghanistan 'gate' release.

What more do we need to know?!

Because he is in Sweden who is giving him some degree of protection. If Sweden stops protecting Assange he becomes more vulnerable.

If there was a huge swell of public opinion against him, the Swedish government would have the excuse they need to lift his protection.

Your comment 'One small article.....' shows that you haven't taken the trouble to search this, otherwise you would have seen that it is being reported in all the mainstream media, from Europe as far as India and beyond.

Therefore it is not 'one single article from a tabloid' as you suggest. If you had taken the trouble to do even one single brief search, that would have become clear.

With regard to your attempt to denigrate other members -

You disagree, that's fine. Other people see it differently from you, that's fine too.

When someone has to resort to attempting to belittle others in order to make a point, either the point they are wanting to make is very weak, or their intellect is.

I've just had a thought. Maybe they want an excuse to raid his home and his computers, etc, to find the password to the encrypted file.

It could be they haven't managed to crack the encryption, so now they're desperate to find the password.

This is pure conspiracy speculation - but if it were to be the case, I have no doubt Assange will have done a good job of disappearing all trace of the PW.

Ask yourself, would you try to become a world famous person, with a pile of skeletons in your closet? I know, some people get away with everything, but with what he does, he must have known he would be scrutinized from top to bottom.

I, for one, find this very suspicious and too coincidental. it's just that I don't believe in coincidence when it comes to this particular case. The stakes are too high, on both sides.

Forget the truth, the media shredded his credibility to bits. With accusations like this, you can expect some evidence to turn up. And even if it's a very bad grainy videotape, showing a Julian look alike, with a slightly bigger nose, doing his -hard to make out - evil. It will be lapped up by the public. He has a sixteen feet wide hole in his credibility, no matter what.

This confusion, witch it surely causes, is exactly what is wanted. When in doubt, believe what the MSN says. The media is always right,....right? Even hard-core conspiracy forums have people who are already ready to execute the man for his beastly deeds.

A worrying development indeed.....
