I agree completely!!!

I'd say you would have to comply with this standard or find another job but since Disney so generously offered to meet the woman in her demands by promising her an appropriate garment, they changed the ball game.

She actually could have an argument if she says that Disney did not deliver on earlier agreements. We cannot assess whether or not three months is an acceptable time to wait for an other costume.

If it is stated in her contract that she has to accept other functions, within the Disney corporation, if the function for which she was hired could not be fulfilled for any reason, then she can't not refuse such an offer. We do not know this, so we cannot judge this....

Indeed, Ad Absurdum.

America, land of the lawsuits.........

I was allowed to wear a ski mask at school. That is true.

Guys! Muslims are people too! If they dont want to plant flowers they plant bombs, but at the same time, when this war against Iraq is over everyone will stop calling that guy down the road a muslim, they will call him Joe.

But I do understand that it sounds like she used her religion against her employer, but if she was told she couldnt wear it she shouldnt of taken the job, I think she could have said it was racism or discrimination, it sounds wrong but she drops herself in the s.h.i.t and expects someone else to get her out.

If they had said she could wear it, then told her to take it off, fair enough, but in her eyes she was offended and she may have felt there was racism or something.

Regards to the first paragraph I do realize that not all muslims are extremists.

Actually you accused me of being a racist so I told you to contact a mod and the police.

When you 'called me out' that racism wasn't illegal, I gave you a case and explained to you the circumstances in which racism was a crime.

I didn't say you did.

After proving (at your request) that my secular rights were protected in the Bill of Rights by the 14th amendment, I then asked you where in the Bill of Rights religious rights supersede secular rights?

Naturally you could not do so, therefore it proved that religious rights didn't supersede secular rights. In fact you proved they didn't. Good man.

Hence from me originally being branded a racist (by you) and having no rights under the Bill of Rights (according to you), compared to the Muslim employee who did have religious rights, we are now in the position where both she and I have rights and her rights don't supersede mine by virtue of her being religious.

I would say we have made some progress.

Absolutely. Unfortunately, as a group, they have a problem with integrating into Western countries. The women are fine but the men are much less keen. They, as a group, tend to associate with themselves and stay separate from their host nation.

In addition young Muslim males sometimes take a literal interpretation of the Koran and actually do what it tells them to do. Carry out Jihad.

Its a problem.

Actually, all Muslims take a literal interpretation of the Koran (many don't believe it, but that's a different thing) and the ones who are very religious actually act on the commands from Allah to kill and subjugate non-Muslims.

Part of the problem is, only the religiously devout actually read the Koran properly and do what it tells them to do. Actually, perhaps that isn't a problem. Perhaps it is fortunate that most Muslims don't read or understand the Koran in its 8th century Arabic.

Most Mulims just want a quiet life like the rest of us of course. They are still very poor at integrating though.

as much as i hate disney and normaly sympathize with muslims i gotta say im actually on disneys side. she is not forced to work there so if she doesnt like that she cant wear her hijib or whatever its called then she should seek employment elsewhere. too bad this isnt here in the state of missouri. here they can fire you just because they want to and im sure they would have gotten rid of her as soon as she became a problem.

I called you a xenophobe. You interpreted what I said to mean you were a racist.

Also, you did not give me a case where racism was illegal. You gave me a case where inciting violence with racist speech was.

That was not the claim you made. You claimed that being a racist was a crime but have yet to show that to be true.

Then goodness me, who was this side swipe directed at?

I'm starting to understand that your lack of reading comprehension is a problem here...

You did call me a racist.

No, I said you would survive the way they survived. You inferred it.

I never said you did.

Well then nice detour.

Hence from me originally being branded a racist (by you) and having no rights under the Bill of Rights (according to you), compared to the Muslim employee who did have religious rights, we are now in the position where both she and I have rights and her rights don't supersede mine by virtue of her being religious.

And your rights don't supersede hers. I don't know why you refuse to acknowledge that....

Anyway back my original point of contention... You stated:

It does violate my right to enjoy Disney land.

You have no such right and have been unable to show that you do.

So I don't see any progress. You made claims and have been unable to back them up. You have been unable to show how being a racist is a crime yet still cling to that assertion even though it is factually false.

Because of your lack of reading comprehension you inferred meaning that wasn't there while at the same time ignoring my explanations for the past 2 days. You have dodged my questions and propped up more strawmen than I've ever seen in a thread.

If you are trolling me, I tip my hat to you. That was the best job I've ever seen. Either way I am done here.

This is an unoriginal bit of BS.

Your above observation pretty much summerizes the history of every immigrant group in the United States...German, Irish, Chinese, Italians..all cloistered themselves in communities and groups.

"Little Italy" in Chicago, Germantown in Philadelphia, Chinatown in SF etc. etc.

It is a mainstay of cultural transition.

You have a penchant for fear mongering and less than honest rhetoric...at least you are consistent.

Bashing Muslims is the only thing you have done with your time thus far on ATS...a long list of posts...different notes of the same tired song.

Actually you inferred it. You shouldn't go around inferring that people are racist. It not nice and it makes you look like an intolerant bigot.

But I freely admit that.

Your original postion was that I had no rights and by implication her rights naturally over rode my non existant rights.

Now you concede I do have rights under the 14th ammendment? Presuambly you agree that her rights and mine need to be balanced?

WTF? Go back and read my posts on the 14th ammendment. You seem to have missed them.

It must be wonderful to be right all the time. Have you ever read "How to win friends and influence people"?

You are right. We are being fired up for some big fight among each other like we havent been in my whole life time.

The girl and her head scarf really shouldnt even be an issue. Why its getting press at all is an indication of how badly the PTB want us riled up and ready to fight. Just waiting for the false flag to drop so that they can direct all our pent up aggression on the enemy of their choice. Iran? Likely. A lot of the aggression that we are being fed is directed at Muslims and Islam and nationalism in general.

They need a lot of support to spend the last crumbs of resources we have on another pointless war in the middle east.

Disney has a well known dress code and in the past has disallowed guests from entering the park for not maintaining that code.

"Currently, Disneyland continues to implement a dress code, albeit one that may appear slightly more relaxed than in previous decades. Female cast members may wear small stud earrings or smaller hoop earrings; men may wear no earrings. Long fingernails are prohibited, as are dirty ones or nails painted in a color that is not natural. All cast members' hair must be of a natural color; looking natural even if it is not actually the cast member's natural color. Makeup must be only on women, minimal, and natural-looking. Visible tattoos are expressly forbidden."

"Male cast members are still forbidden from having long hair, although long-haired male guests are now permitted into Disneyland. Men employed at Disneyland may not have hair that touches their ears or their collars. Sideburns may not pass the earlobes, and mustaches are allowed if they are no longer than the corners of the employee's mouth."

"The philosophy behind the cast members' dress code has not changed much - the "Disney Look" is to ensure that each and every guest feels comfortable around each and every Disneyland cast member. This consideration extends farther than simple appearance. All Disneyland cast members must point with two fingers or their whole hand, as pointing with one finger may be considered rude to some guests."

California is also an at will employment state. Unless she can prove prejudice or religious intolerance, this is all BS and is just another example of a worker trying to fault the employer after a termination due to rules violations.

TheWrongStuff,

Agreed!! But the fact of the matter is that she can sue her boss. It is her right to do so. Whether or not she is right has nothing to do with whether or not she is allowed to sue...(basically voiding this whole discussion).

I wonder if we would even be having this discussion if it were a Texas roughneck demanding the right to wear a tutu to work??

It's the fact that it concerns a Muslim that is makes this discussion juicy!!

Media knows this!!

As my good friend Dusty Pete would say ..... " If you dont like it, git out !!! go on .... giiiiiit !!! love it or leave it woooo hooooo.

It's absurd, to be forced to wear veil's because of the male insecurities of some neanderthals.

Instead of embracing our freedoms, some of them are trying to use them against us, .... would they rather be back home plowing a field of sand only to be paid in goat heads.

All this political correctness makes me cringe. " we must respect this, we must respect that. If chimpanzee's were domesticated to be monkey butlers, .... would we just let them sling poop everywhere simply because its " their natural way" ...... or point out how absurd it is and try to potty train them.

I respect the religion Islam. But some way they are a little out of the limits. A uniform is for uniformity. Whats the point if she cant wear it?. It is better to leave the job other than to make this a public issue. It is her problem after all

A teacher says no to burqa in a West Bengal Muslim university, isn’t allowed to teach

While the guidelines at Aliah University in Kolkata don’t stipulate the same, the students’ union has demanded that Middya can teach but only in burqa.
