Paying to sit on park benches that will inevitably poke you in your junk with sharp spikes.

This is wrong on so many levels...yet strangely comical.

Park officials in China have found a way to stop people from hogging their benches for too long - by fitting steel spikes on a coin-operated timer.

Yeouch! Sharp idea Reminds me of those spikes that pop up in paid parking lots that slash your tires if you back up to pick up a dropped ticket

You know, it is not so much the idea of the spikes in the benches, as it is the fact that the Chinese people have not risen as one to slay their oppressors I mean PAYING TO SIT DOWN?!?!?!

This is crazy, I'd just sit on the ground.

For the money its going to cost to make these robotic-spike coin-operated park benches - you think they could just build more benches - the cost benefit would prolly be 10:1

this is a definite case for dubteaeff category.

Not that I do much travelling in Asia; but whenever I travel, I make sure to pack only "easy care" clothing.

Wow, that's a little extreme. Lucky the spikes aren't longer. A lot of people would be removed from the gene pool, if you know what I mean. Talk about minced meat.
