Russian cold front pushes back wildfires

Russian firefighters have succeeded in pushing back wildfires while an advancing cold front is expected to finally put an end to a two-month heat wave, officials said Monday. There were 500 blazes still burning, but the amount of land on fire was down 15 per cent in the last 24 hours, the Emergency Situations Ministry said. The area covered by fires around Moscow has nearly halved in size over the past two days.
