Greetings ATS,

I wanted to post a series of photos for all of you cryptid hunters out there. Unfortunately, I'm not too clever with the BB Code thing. So, I've got them uploaded in an ATS photos album, here's the link to it:

Here is the Link

Now, what happened was that I met in person with another ATS user (who's name I'm withholding until I am given permission to use it, but he's in a few of the pictures). We were exploring a patch of woodlands here in our state (we're in the US) and we came upon this... well, series of odd things.

There are 9 photos in the album and I'll outline what happened as we found each thing, and as I took the picture. There are several dozen more photos, but they were mostly bracketed shots of what these 9 contain.

The photos are really large, and I already shrank them down from my digital cameras normal settings. So if anyone can shrink them more, and knows how to post them on this thread, please go right ahead and do so.

The location is approximately a 25-30 minute walk into the woods. There's a nature trail, but you have to venture off of it and wander into a ring of redwood and evergreens in order to find the place.

Once there, after meandering to the left some you'll find the first odd structure, what looked to us like some kind of rudimentary house, made of branches, sticks, and debris.

01 - this is a long-range shot of the house. It was between 4 and 6 feet tall, and at least 7 or 8 feet wide. The structure was concave in nature, not squared as if the branches were stacked to make a fort.

02 - another shot of the house structure. The person there is the fellow ATS user, he is roughly 5 and a half feet tall. So the den/house is not extremely tall, but it is considerable.

03 - this is located in the left-hand corner of the structure. We were pretty sure it is a bed of some kind made from straw and hay and weeds and other debris. I am just under six feet and could have comfortably lain in this "bed"

04 - this is the second structure, located left of the den/house. We have no idea what it is, but a majority of what is stacked are small trees, roots still attached to a few. Both myself and the other user could stand beneath this canopy.

05 - another shot of the canopy. This time showing a little better how high up these trees were lifted.

06 - a final shot of the canopy. This time no people muddling the shot.

07 - continuing deeper into the woods, left of the original 2 structures, a series of small, sturdy branches were leaned in a ring around a trunk. We didn't touch these at all, just took the picture and moved on.

08 - a bundle of gathered sticks. There were a couple hundred feet of these circling the den/house deeper into the woods. The gathered branches ranged in size from a foot, to 5 or 6 feet in length.

09 - another shot of some more gathered sticks, bundled and left on the forest floor. This one closer to the canopy structure, as you can see it in the background.

Alright, a few bits more info... There is a clearing not too far from where we found this (visible as greener grasses in a few of the pictures).

The week preceding the discovery was filled with thunderstorms, so some of the surrounding woods were muddy, but this area was seemingly not too heavily drenched.

There were no signs of human habitation near any of the structures. No cans, no beer bottles, no garbage or wrappers, and most importantly, no footsteps of any kind.

What did we find?
Was it at one time being used?
Is it possibly something abandoned before being completed?
Does anyone have any ideas?

I showed my dad the pictures and he said "post them on ATS and see if anyone on there had any ideas", so here I am doing just that.

I can't see the pics either, but it sounds like you may have found an Ewok's house!

(But seriously, see if you can get the pics uploaded- curious to see what you found...)

Looks as though the place has had a bad case of Bear Grylls and the Man vs. Wild team

Well I can tell you the trees you are looking at is White Pine, I have to assume with that many of them you are in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Massachussettes, perhaps upstate NY

You have a few deciduous oaks growing in there and they have gone to seed. White pine is notorious for looking deaD and dry lower on the trunk. Absolutely natural phenomena. Wite pine branches are the best fire starter in New England

It looks like a nice makeshift shelter made by someone. You are most likely not the first person to be there.

Well, that, or a demonic worship site where legions of hell were summoned to open up a portal for price of darkness... People do all kinds of weird things in woods
.

By the way, I've seen something like that many times when I was in scouts. There are people everywhere, no forest is left undisturbed. Seeing "human work" while walking alone somewhere you'd think never had human visit can be creepy.

It's obviously a "play area" made by either the OP, and/or the OP's featured friend ... or OTHER young boys in the area.

It's not a "treehouse" because no tools were used. The limbs are broken off instead of cut. No junk lumber has been 'imported'.

It's not cryptological animal-made, there are no claw marks on the trees.

There's no obvious sign of recent fire-making so they know not to burn fires in the woods.

The needles have been foot-raked into mounds to support the verticle limbs.

I figure some teenage boys have learned that 'survival techniques' aren't all that simple afterall.

I have to agree. My little brother used to LOVE going into the woods and building forts/playhouses/etc. Looks like some young boys or even a boy scout camp.

Alright, seems like it's just some human's stuff then. We originally thought that, until we realized there was no human debris left around. To my knowledge, humans in the wild can be pretty careless, leaving bottles and wrappers and other junk behind them. We didn't find anything but the structures.

I'll go check it out again this week, see if anything has changed. As for the poster who thought it was our doing, we didn't do anything but take pictures of it.

Thanks for the replies though, everyone.

I'd need something more to be convinced this was made by an animal other than a human.

Gimmi some footprints gimmi some droppings gimmi some hair, gimmi a bedding area with all of the above. Give me something that can turn my attention away from the overbearing possibility that the structures were man made.
