It's pretty sad that the public doesn't care about space exploration anymore -- and that's why they can't secure funding to just get it done.

Why is it a bad idea to dump them? I can't think of a single reason to keep them around. Big deep useless money pit if you ask me.

Very expensive, yes. I said that. And now that the ISS is complete, quite useless as anything but a bus. I said that.

I don't know, maybe just nostalgia, but it just gives me a bad feeling that the US will have no manned orbital capability for a good stretch. I can't help thinking that something, even something old and expensive, is better than nothing. Until something else is available.

The ISS is basically a laboratory that is studying how humans can live in space. As was mentioned before, one of the primary "experiments" (if you want to call it that) was the actual construction of the ISS. Building the ISS taught us more than we ever knew about how to build habitats in space. Our knowledge of space construction took a quantum leap when the ISS was designed and constucted.

Now that the ISS is built (and that "experiment" is complete), the new main "experiment" being carried out is "how can Man live in space". The results are available in scientific journals from NASA and other institutions such as universities who are conducting many of the experiments.

I've argued before that the manufacturing experiments being conducted on the ISS are minor compared to the volumes and volumes pf knowledge we gained on living in space habitats for extended periods of time.

The "black ops" foots the bill. Funded by some tax dollars, and a lot of drug money. Things like stealth paint and other composite materials are made while in space, as it cannot be made on Earth. This is why it is so expensive.

Skynet and Cyberdyne are real, and they equal trouble It is my sincere belief that what we know ans the International space Station is a joint effort to build a Death Star, a weapons platform in space.
